Collaboration has emerged as a pivotal element within an intentional person-centred healthcare framework. However, there is a need for evaluative feedback from patients to enhance interprofessional collaboration and its outcomes. The objective of this review was to describe the state of knowledge on the perspectives of patients living with a chronic condition regarding their experiences of interprofessional collaboration. Purpose: Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) in healthcare facilitates efficiency and optimal outcomes for healthcare consumers. To prepare future healthcare workers to engage in collaborative practice, higher education institutions are investing time and resources to engage students in interprofessional education (IPE) experiences. Purpose: The intent of this study is to examine how Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Counseling and Human Development (CHD) graduate students who experienced Counselors and Occupational Therapists Professionally Engaged (COPE) in the Community program perceived their self-evaluation of cultural competence with humility (CCH) constructs (cultural awareness, skills, knowledge, and desire) from pre- to post-experience. Purpose

This study shows the impact of a 3-part population health and interprofessional education (IPE) curriculum on Physician Assistant (PA) students’ knowledge and experience of population health and systems thinking (PHST) and to promote a team-based approach to patient care and improve patient health and preventative services.

Methods

Human Resources and Services Administration funded a 5-year Primary Care and Training Enhancement grant in PHST. With this funding, the Department of Family and Community Medicine developed a three-part plan emphasizing interprofessional learning. Interprofessional education continues to be emphasized as an area that needs to continue to grow by agencies that accredit higher education professional degree programs. Teams of healthcare professionals need to learn more about each other, collaborate, and understand what matters most to the patient when care is needed in an acute or ambulatory care setting. Settings that promote clinical shared decision-making and collaboration with pharmacists among the team and increase communication between members and the patient will decrease medical errors, increase patient safety, and improve the quality of life for the patient.

Background: Interprofessional education and collaborative practice are standards that have been added to the accreditation standards for athletic training education. Athletic training educators will need to provide interprofessional experiences to their students to remain compliant with the standards. The goal of the mixed methods study was to explore athletic training preceptors' perceptions of interprofessional education and collaborative practice in the clinical setting. This study examined students’ perceptions of interprofessional multicultural learning activities used to develop cultural competence with humility (CCH). Limited research exists on student perceptions of learning activities for CCH in entry-level occupational therapy educational programs. This exploratory, mixed methods study used an anonymous online survey, the Learning Activities Survey (LAS), to collect student quantitative ratings and qualitative feedback about CCH learning activities and their experience within the Counselors and Occupational Therapists Professionally Engaged in the Community (COPE) program. The Nusantara Sehat Team (NST), established in 2015 and consist of multi-professional health workers, implemented to provide comprehensive services at remote primary health cares (PHCs) for two years. This study aimed to explore how the NST leverages the Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) and its impact on the future career prospects of health workers. Using a qualitative approach, the information was gathered from 48 informants drawn from the current 30 NST recruits and 18 alumni through semi-structured interviews. Collaboration among healthcare professionals has been widely cited as critical in ensuring optimal and efficient client care. To foster the development of this interprofessional competency in healthcare graduates, the University of Toronto created an Interprofessional Education (IPE) curriculum. However, the means by which the IPE curriculum developed interprofessional collaborative competencies in occupational therapy (OT) graduates had not been explored. Purpose: The Kawa (river in Japanese) model uses the metaphor of a river to view one’s life from a metaphysical perspective, with consideration given to the interaction between social and physical environments, life circumstances, assets, and liabilities.
