Comparative Evaluation For The Effect Of Green Tea, Aloe Vera And Chlorhexidine On Dentin Erosion, Nourhan Moustafa Moustafa, Rasha Afifi, Maha Ahmed Niazy, Essam Naguib

Future Dental Journal

ABSTRACT:

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the anti-collagenolytic effect of Green tea, Aloe vera and chlorhexidine on artificial erosion in human dentin using microhardness test and environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM). Materials and Methods: For this study, 60 extracted sound human maxillary premolars were subjected to artificial erosion and randomly divided into three equal groups (20 premolars each) according to immersion in the tested anti-collagenolytic agents; group (A1) Green tea, (A2) Aloe vera and group (A3) Chlorhexidine (CHX). The microhardness analysis and (ESEM) photomicrographs were taken for the surface of dentin specimens three …

Banded Application Of Geojute® Barriers To A Representative Area In Guam’S Pago Watershed, Joseph L. Casila, Laura Biggs, Phd, Victoria Flisco, Bart Lawrence Aug 2016

Banded Application Of Geojute® Barriers To A Representative Area In Guam’S Pago Watershed, Joseph L. Casila, Laura Biggs, Phd, Victoria Flisco, Bart Lawrence

Journal of Health Disparities Research and Practice

Coral reefs around Guam are faced with multiple threats including soil erosion and sedimentation. In several of Guam’s southern watersheds, infertile soil upland has significantly deterred the growth of erosion-mitigating vegetation. Additionally, sediments that wash down to sea reduce the ability of coral reefs to thrive. The need to ameliorate the ecosystem decline related to erosion and sedimentation is particularly patent and pertinent in Pago Watershed. To inform restoration efforts, this research will identify the efficiency of GeoJute® barriers as a method of erosion control. Factoring cost, labor, and effectiveness in containing sediment, GeoJute® barriers are hypothesized as a practical …

Evaluation Of Nonneoplastic Findings On Vaginal Smears With Comparison Of Intrauterine Devices And Oral Contraceptive Pill Effects, Rahi̇me Bedi̇r Findik, Servet Güreşci̇, Ayşe Nurcan Ünlüer, Jale Karakaya

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Although the Pap smear is a common screening test for cervical cancer and its precursors, it can detect some benign conditions as well. In this study, the aim was to evaluate smear results with regard to nonneoplastic findings and to compare them to the detectable effects of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and oral contraceptive pills (OPs). Materials and methods: In this retrospective study, the hospital records and cytopathology reports of 4248 patients were recorded. Smear results were evaluated according to the 2001 Bethesda System and were evaluated according to age groups, menopausal/menstrual status, physical examination findings, and contraceptive method usage. Results: …

Artificial Urinary Sphincter Implantation: What Do Patients And Urologists Face?, Adnan Şi̇mşi̇r, Raşi̇t Altintaş, Mehmet Ceyhun Özyurt

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

To investigate the main problems faced by patients undergoing artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) implantation and the important factors that the surgeon should take into consideration in predicting these problems. Postprostatectomy incontinence continues to be a complication that most severely impairs the quality of life. Materials and methods: Of 82 initial patients, 64 patients with complete data who responded positively to the invitation for examination were divided into 3 groups: patients with implant-tissue interaction, patients with no problems, and those with mechanical failure. Univariate analysis, Student's t-test, Pearson's chi-square test, logistic regression, and Kaplan-Meier analysis were used in this study. Results: …

Lupin Stubbles : Getting The Best With Weaner Sheep, Keith Croker, Colin Mcdonald, Jeremy Allen

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

Sweet lupins are now grown on about a million hectares in Western Australia each year. If half of the State's seven million weaners were grazed as recommended on half of the lupin stubbles, it could generate about $15 million from reduced supplementary feeding, greater wool production and other advantages. But correct management is important, particularly knowing when to take weaners out. Research by the Department over the last five years is now indicating how this should be done.
