Presence Of Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus On Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus Mykiss) By Histopathology, Elisa And Rt-Pcr, Gabriel Aguirre-Guzmán, Ned Iván Iván De La Cruz-Hernández, Jesús Genaro Sánchez-Martínez

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) culture in Mexico experiences sporadic and significant fish mortalities, wheredisease signs are associated with infectious pancreatic necrosis virus disease (IPNV). The purpose of the present workwas to support the potential of ELISA, histopathology, and RT-PCR as routine techniques for IPNV detection.Fourteen trout farms were monitored after a disease outbreak. Positive results were confirmed in different collectedorganisms from 21% of tested farms by all 3 techniques. Virus detection by ELISA and RT-PCR was successfullyperformed in only two days after the initial signs of disease were observed in fish, since these methods are fasterwhen compared to histopathology, which only …

Aflatoxin M1 Levels In Retail Yoghurt And Ayran In Erzurum In Turkey, Meryem Aydemi̇r Atasever, Mustafa Atasever, Korhan Özturan

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to determine the presence and levels of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in yoghurt and ayran consumed in the province of Erzurum, Turkey. For this purpose, a total of 80 yoghurt samples and 80 ayran samples were randomly obtained from markets. The samples' AFM1 content and concentrations were examined by competitive ELISA method. AFM1 at detectable level (5 ng/kg) was found in 87.5% of the yoghurt samples and in 90.0% of the ayran samples. AFM1 levels in 16 (20%) yoghurt and in 11 (13.6%) ayran samples exceeded the maximum tolerable limit of the Turkish Food Codex. The …

Aflatoxin M1 Contamination In Cow’S Milk In Kayseri (Central Turkey), Hi̇kmet Mavuş Buldu, A. Nedret Koç, Güven Uraz

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in the milk of cows in the villages of Kayseri province, Turkey. Ninety milk samples were investigated for AFM1 contamination using the enzyme linked immunoassay (ELISA). The mean value of AFM1 levels was 59.9 ng/L, 95% confidence interval was 54.4-65.5 ng/L, and standard deviation was 26.6 ng/L. For 63 samples (70%) the values were significantly above the limit permitted by European Union criteria (EU) and the Turkish Food Codex (TFC) (P < 0.05). However, the differences in AFM1 levels between villages were not significant (P > 0.05). In conclusion, since the level of AFM1 in the milk of cows was higher …

Molecular And Serological Evidence For Anaplasma Infection In Yaks, Miling Ma, Zhijie Liu, Guiquan Guan, Youquan Li, Jianxun Luo, Hong Yin Jan 2011

Molecular And Serological Evidence For Anaplasma Infection In Yaks, Miling Ma, Zhijie Liu, Guiquan Guan, Youquan Li, Jianxun Luo, Hong Yin

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Bovine anaplasmosis caused by Anaplasma marginale is considered to be an important disease in China; large-scale investigations have not been carried out since the 1990s, however, and whether or not yaks can be infected by A. marginale has never been investigated. In this study, 2 yaks were successfully infected by the inoculation of blood infected with A. marginale under experimental conditions. Furthermore, an investigation of 482 field serum samples from yaks using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) with the recombinant major surface protein 5 (MSP5) showed that 84.4% of the results were positive. In consideration of previously determined ecological and …
