Reattachment Of The Crown Fragment In Anterior Teeth: 2 Cases Report, Maliwan Vongsittajarn, Suchada Wattanaburanon Sep 2003

Reattachment Of The Crown Fragment In Anterior Teeth: 2 Cases Report, Maliwan Vongsittajarn, Suchada Wattanaburanon

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Reattachment of a crown fragment to its origin could be an alternative in the restoration of a fractured crown caused by a traumatic accident of anterior teeth, particularly when such fragment is still available. The method is considerably conservative and could be done immediately, either as a temporary or permanent restoration, by using resin composite material and its bonding system. The process is not time-consuming and quite economic, and gives rise to a restoration of original color, shape and function. This study report two cases of patient in which successful results have been obtained after one-year follow-up.

Influence Of Root Canal Treatment On Endo - Perio Lesion : A Case Report, Anna Thepvanangkul

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Vertical bony defects were caused by both periodontal and pulpal infection. Either root canal treatment or periodontal therapy was needed for treatment of a lesion. Combination of both treatment was required in some cases. Success of treatment depended on accurate diagnosis which was established by pulpal vitality test, periodontal probing, and radiographic examination. This report presented the case of mandibular left second molar with deep pocket formation (>10 mm.) and second degree mobility. The tooth was non-vital. Radiographic examination showed extensive bone loss. Because the lesion originated from endodontic origin, complete healing was anticipated after root canal treatment. On …

The percentages of people who know the correct method of tooth brushing, the causes of dental caries and gingivitis, how to prevent dental caries, and how to prevent gingivitis were 74%, 85.1%, 86% and 70.2% respectively. The percentages of people who know the use of fluoride-varnishes in children, sealant application, fluoride supplement for pre-school children, and self oral examination were 39.6%, 57.9% 62.6%, and 38.7% respectively. Concerning to dental health behaviors, 91.1% brush their teeth at least twice a day, 64.3% visit dentists when they had oral problems, and 16.2% visit dentists for annual check-ups. The statistical analysis found that female, high educated people, and sufficient earned people had better knowledge and behavior in dental health promotion and prevention than male, lower educated people, and insufficient earned people. Learning from television and from advertisement were significantly related to their knowledge of dental brushing and gingivitis prevention. The need of using media for dental health education is significantly related to the learning from television (p < 0.05). Conclusions People in Bangrak district, Bangkok metropolitan administration have insufficient knowledge in dental health promotion and prevention. Sex, age, education, and income are important factors of behaviors of dental health promotion and prevention. Television is an effective media for dental health education.

Restoration Of Amputated Tooth With Fixed Restoration: A Case Report, Sittidej Nincharoen, Sunphat Namano Jan 2003

Restoration Of Amputated Tooth With Fixed Restoration: A Case Report, Sittidej Nincharoen, Sunphat Namano

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Restorative treatment planning is often confounded when periodontal attachment loss, caries or tooth fracture involves the furcation area of the multirooted molars. Although such involvement invariably diminishes the long-term prognosis of the affected teeth, extraction is not always a good option. Root resection, which removes the involved root plus its associated crown portion, is one of several treatment modalities that can be used in such cases. This paper reports a patient having a fixed bridge restoration by using a lower molar and a resected tooth of a lower molar as abutments. For this case, the semi-precious alloy is the metal …
