Sonography (US) of the knee has gained in significance in the diagnosis of the meniscal injuries. In order to evaluate the diagnostic capabilities of US in meniscal lesions of the knee, 112 patients with suspected knee injury over a period of six months were studied with high-resolution US equipped with a 10 MHz linear transducer. Eighteen of them also received arthroscopy or magnetic resonance imaging, as a gold standard for detecting the meniscal lesion.
