Background

• Minimally invasive surgery often requires tissue morcellation for extraction of large surgical specimens.¹
• Surgeon comfort with tissue morcellation in gynecologic surgery is vital in providing a minimally invasive (MIS) approach.
• However, OBGYN residents often feel underprepared to perform this skill independently.²
• While practicing tissue morcellation in the OR is ideal, simulation has been shown to improve resident technical skill without risking increased operative time or associated morbidity.³
• This intervention seeks to build upon a prior simulation exercise, with the ultimate goal of improving OB-GYN resident self-reported comfort with minimally invasive tissue extraction.

• Shivering during targeted temperature management (TTM) after cardiac arrest is stressful and linked to cerebral metabolic crisis.

• Few publications report shivering incidence, timing, or severity during TTM, and shivering treatment recommendations conflict.

• To evaluate multimodal shivering assessments, we studied patients during TTM managed with surface cooling, moderate analgosedation, surface counterwarming, and intermittent neuromuscular blockade (NMB) and evaluated surface electromyographic (EMG) power in decibels using the Medtronic bispectral index (BIS) monitor.

What is an sdRNA? Noncoding RNA (ncRNA) is a class of RNA that includes microRNA (miRNA) and small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA). Fragments excised from ncRNAs are known as noncodingderived RNA (ndRNA). A certain class of ndRNAs that are derived from snoRNAs have been denoted as Small Nucleolar Derived RNAs (sdRNAs). Our lab has previously hypothesized and demonstrated that sdRNAs display regulatory functions on target genes, similar to the functions of miRNAs. sdRNAs are almost identical to microRNAs and differ mainly in their source of origin.

Purpose/Hypothesis: Cancer related fatigue (CRF), a sense of physical, emotional and cognitive tiredness not relieved by rest, negatively affects function. Prevalence is reported to be 59-100% throughout the care continuum. Exercise and psychosocial interventions are supported as effective treatment options, yet barriers to personalized care include time and distance to travel for care. Purpose/Hypothesis: Balance/Auditory/Vision exercises (Bal-A-Vis-X) consists of a series of exercises using sand-filled bags and racquet balls. Most of the exercises are completed while standing on a rocker board and heavily rooted in rhythm. The rhythmic patterns are utilized to facilitate focused concentration, crossing midline, motor planning, right/left awareness, eye-hand coordination, balance, bilateral coordination, body and spatial awareness. Objectives: The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in cancer treatment is increasing. Literature about endocrinopathies associated with ICIs in children is limited. This study investigates ICIs and thyroid dysfunction in pediatric patients at one institution.

Methods: Retrospective chart review of patients ages 1 to 19 was completed who received any of the following ICIs between January 2000 and November 2023: PD-1 inhibitors (nivolumab or pembrolizumab), PD-L1 inhibitors (durvalumab or atezolizumab), and CTLA-4 inhibitors (ipilimumab or tremelimumab). Asthma exacerbations are a leading cause of pediatric hospitalizations, and systemic corticosteroids remain a key component of inpatient treatment. Emergency department-focused studies have shown dexamethasone to be equivalent to prednisone/prednisolone in terms of outcomes such as readmission rates, but less is known about the trends in dexamethasone use versus other systemic corticosteroids, and associated outcomes in the inpatient setting. The use of Telecytology in conjunction with rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) is currently at the forefront of discussion among cytologists and cytopathologists. In this meta-narrative review, the advancements of Telecytology and ROSE within the discipline of Cytology are discussed. Advancements in telecytology and ROSE enable off-site cytology slide evaluation and diagnosis through digital image transfer. ROSE allows for preliminary cytological assessment during image-guided biopsy procedures to determine specimen adequacy. The meta-narrative review concluded that the combination of these two technologies increases the efficacy of patient diagnosis without sacrificing the quality of patient care.
