AbstractThe increasing prevalence and incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major healthcare burden in developed and developing countries. A gap in nursing practice was identified in a teaching and referral hospital located in Jamaica. Nurses in the organization lacked requisite knowledge and current evidence-based practice guidelines on CKD and therefore could not teach patients diagnosed with CKD. The purpose of this project was to educate nurses regarding the progression of CKD, with the aim of slowing the disease process.
