Comparison Of Surface Defects In Protaper Next And Hyflex Edm Files After Single Clinical Use: A Stereoscopic Evaluation, Faizan Javed, Momina Anis Motiwala, Farhan Raza Khan, Rabia Ghafoor
Section of Dental-Oral Maxillofacial Surgery
Objective: To compare the surface defects created on the ProTaper Next files versus HyFlex Electrical Discharge Machining files after single clinical use in molars.
Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted in the dental department of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from December 2018 to June 2019, and comprised Nickel-Titanium files belonging to HyFlex Electrical Discharge Machining and ProTaper Next to perform complete root canal treatment of molar teeth. The files were first visually examined and then analysed under 25.6x magnification using a stereomicroscope for the evaluation of surface defects. A photographic record was maintained and studied. Data was analysed …

Evaluation Of Micro Leakage Of Root Canals Filled With Different Obturation Techniques: An In Vitro Study, Maham Muneeb Lone, Farhan Raza Khan
Section of Dental-Oral Maxillofacial Surgery
Background: Despite a plethora of studies done comparing different obturation techniques using gutta-percha, there is no consensus as to which obturation technique results in a 'better' sealing of root canal space. Aims of the study are to compare mean apical micro leakage in root canals of extracted teeth obturated with cold laterally compacted gutta-percha and thermoplasticised injectable gutta-percha using calcium hydroxide based sealer.
Methods: It was an in-vitro experimental study carried out using extracted teeth. After access cavity preparation and canal preparation in 70 teeth, they were randomly divided into 2 groups and filled with two different obturation …

Frequency And Distribution Of Endodontically Treated Teeth, Hina Ahmed, Durr E. Sadaf, Munawar Rahman
Section of Dental-Oral Maxillofacial Surgery
Objective: To determine the distribution and pattern of carious teeth involvement in permanent teeth requiring endodontic treatment. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Dental Section of The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from September 2004 to March 2005. Methodology: Data was collected from the dental records of patients. Tooth was the unit of evaluation. Variables studied were demographics, tooth type, etiology of endodontic treatment and pattern of caries involvement. Data was analyzed using chi-square test and Fischer’s exact test. Results: The total number of patients was 190; total number of teeth involved were 235. Females had more …
