The purposes of this study were to investigate the circumstances of occurrences in 53 patients with moderate to severe burns under 12 years of age, who were admitted to the burn center of the Armed Forces Tsoying Hospital in Kaohsiung from June 1998 to May 2000. The subjects were further divided into three age groups: 0-3 years, 3-6 years, and at least six but less than twelve years old for pairwise comparisons purpose.The results showed that the overall ratio of male to female was 2.3.
