Dupuytren's disease is defined as a pathologic change in the palmar and digital fascia which often results in a secondary, painless, fibrous, flexion contracture of the digital joints. Normally, the disease process is painless, but a severe contracture of 30° or more at the metacarpophalangeal joint and 15° or more at the proximal interphalangeal joint can interfere with the biomechanics of the hand, preventing the performance of activities of daily living.
