Objective To evaluate the role of Beclin 1 in basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Background BCC is the most common kind of skin cancer with increased incidence. Autophagy is considered an intracellular homeostatic pathway that is related to cancer and other diseases. Beclin 1 is a specific marker for autophagy. Patients and methods This An Ambidirectional Cohort Study was conducted on 77 cases with BCC and 20 age-matched and sex-matched apparently healthy participants. Objective The aim of the present study was to evaluate the esthetic and functional outcomes after surgical excision of nonmelanomatous malignant lesions of the face, followed by a suitable tool of reconstruction. Background Neoplasm of the skin is found most often on the face. Cosmetically, the face is the most important anatomic area for most patients. Because of this, malignant tumors of the facial skin pose a great challenge in treatment, prohibiting compromises between oncologically responsible surgery and functional and cosmetic outcomes.
