The superiority of Stanley R. Benedict's test over the use of Fehling's Solution for the quantitative determination of sugar in urine is proven by its wide use. More than half of the hospitals and physiological laboratories in the United States are now using this test. The timidity and reluctance sometimes found in human nature towards giving up old methods for new is probably the reason why there are still some who do not use it.
