Nursing leadership remains a critical factor during healthcare transformation. Nurse leaders who promote healthy working conditions have been associated with positive nurse and unit outcomes. However, mechanisms to explain how they influence outcomes are not understood (Cummings et al., 2018). Conger and Kanungo’s (1988) Process Model of Empowerment provided a framework to examine how leader empowering behaviour (LEB) influenced experienced nurses’ self-efficacy (SE), interprofessional collaboration (IPC), job turnover intentions (JTI) and nurse-assessed adverse patient outcomes (NAAE).

Despite recent advances in medical technology and research, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) remains the top universal cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. Factors underlying PPH include the inconsistency in recognition and timely treatment of women experiencing PPH, which suggests the importance of healthcare professionals’ mentorship about PPH. Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects over 2.5 million individuals Canada wide and is the leading cause of hospitalization in Canada among chronic diseases with an 18% hospital readmission rate. The high cost of emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and readmissions for COPD tells a story of need; the need for education of patients. Collaborative self-management (CSM) is a process whereby the individual patient and nurse work together to improve health. Background: Medication errors continue to be a significant issue within both academic and clinical settings, posing substantial threats to the safety and well-being of patients. Through Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy, nursing students’ self-efficacy (confidence) and preparedness related to medication administration were examined to investigate their influence on the generation of medication errors in clinical simulation.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this mixed methods study was: (a) to assess nurses’ knowledge and self-efficacy of caring for clients experiencing delirium and those at risk of developing delirium in a hospital setting prior to and immediately after taking part in a clinical education session, and (b) to explore nurses’ experiences of applying knowledge from the education session to the practice setting. Objectives of the education session included reviewing risks, signs, symptoms, standardized screening tools, and management strategies for clients at risk for or experiencing delirium in a hospital setting.

The purpose of this study was to examine the affective component of learner engagement (Linnenbrink & Printrich, 2003); more specifically students’ perceptions of learner anxiety and self-efficacy for professional practice in clinical nursing education. This study identified the factors in clinical learning contexts that contribute to learner anxiety, the differences among these factors in real and simulated learning contexts, and finally, the teaching and learning strategies that minimize learner anxiety and positively enhance self-efficacy for professional nursing practice. Exclusive breastfeeding is associated with numerous health benefits for both mother and child, and is recommended for the first 6 months of an infant’s life. The purpose of this prospective study was to examine, using a survey-based design, the breastfeeding practices, self-efficacy, and perceived barriers and facilitators of primiparous mothers in London, Ontario. A total of 71 women (Mage = 30.0, SD = 4.3) participated in the study. Women (breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding) were asked to complete online surveys at three time points: < 4 weeks postpartum, 3 months postpartum, and 6 months postpartum. Results indicated that rates of exclusive breastfeeding decreased over time, whereas partial and non-breastfeeding rates increased. Women in the exclusive breastfeeding category reported the greatest levels of breastfeeding self-efficacy at all time points. Lastly, participants identified a number of breastfeeding-related facilitators (e.g., partner support, community services) and barriers (e.g., insufficient milk supply, latching difficulties).

In the past two decades, there has been an increased interest in the development of self-management programs for people with chronic diseases. Fundamental to chronic disease management is adequate literacy and health literacy skills. Research on the health literacy skills of individuals managing Parkinson’s disease (PD) is seemingly absent from the research literature.
