College counseling centers have observed increases in the prevalence and severity of mental health issues that student experience. One strategy is to address the increased demand for services is the use of online therapy. Online therapy can be accessed through the internet. Online therapy provides people with a platform to seek help with their mental health issues. There are many different forms of online therapy or counseling. They include video chat, messaging, video conferencing and chat rooms.

Contemplative Pedagogy In The Classroom: Engaging Students’ Self-Awareness To Enhance Learning, Michele Mcgrady

Contemplative pedagogy offers unique opportunities for students to deepen their understanding and focus through introspection, reflection, and stillness. Contemplative practices, such as meditative exercises, movement, and writing allow students to understand the nature of their minds and the learning process. Through the use of contemplative practices, students experience increased attention, connection, creativity, as well as a deeper understanding of course material. Although critics may question the appropriateness of these practices in the classroom, contemplative pedagogy has the ability to positively impact students’ learning. This presentation invites participants to explore contemplative pedagogy and discuss ways to integrate practices into learning activities.

The WMU Center for Gerontology was established in 2010 and builds on a strong tradition of gerontology education offered at WMU from the late 1970s to 2004. The undergraduate minor has been revised and is again offered. The previous graduate certificate in gerontology has not yet been reestablished.

This project sought to determine the relative value of a graduate certificate in gerontology vs. a masters degree in gerontology.
