Moringa oleifera is a tree native to a number of Asian, African, and Central American countries and has been used in traditional medicine for an assortment of medicinal uses for centuries. Due to bioactive compounds within Moringa leaves, it is believed that Moringa leaf extract may possess cancer-selective antiproliferative properties. Previous research has been conducted in regards to this topic, but poor experimental design due to lack of necessary controls limits the legitimacy of anticancer claims. Lipocalin 2 (Lcn2) is a member of the lipocalin family of siderophore-binding molecules that can mediate iron trafficking. It acts during the innate immune response and has been implicated in conflicting roles in metastasis, leaving its role undefined. In breast cancer LCN2 was shown in previous studies to both inhibit or promote metastasis. Previous studies the Pena laboratory showed that increasing the serum levels of LCN2 caused a significantly increase in liver metastasis of the poorly metastatic MC-38 colon cancer cell line. Background: There is growing evidence of association between diabetes and cancer. No studies have been conducted in India evaluating this association. With the current epidemiologic, nutritional and economic transition in India, it becomes extremely important to examine this association in an Indian population. Additionally, difference in association exists based on different cancer subtypes. Research has shown that diabetes is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. Background. There are approximately 15.5 million individuals alive today in the U.S. with a personal history of cancer. For this large and growing population, ill effects associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment include both physical and psychosocial symptoms adversely affecting quality of life. One low-risk alternative to conventional pharmaceutical use in treating these symptoms is mindfulness practice. Research on self-reported measures provides strong evidence that this type of intervention improves quality of life for cancer survivors, but evidence of impact on objective measures is limited.
