Depression Screening Tool For Hysterectomy Patients, Dede C. Mihedji
Depression Screening Tool For Hysterectomy Patients, Dede C. Mihedji
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects
Abstract
Background: The prevalence of hysterectomies in the United States ranges from
5.1 to 5.8 per 1000 women (Harnod et al., 2018). A standardized screening tool for assessing
depression preoperatively could mitigate the worsening of postoperative depressive symptoms in patients scheduled for a hysterectomy.
Local Problem: Currently, there is no standard of practice to routinely screen for depression in preoperative patients scheduled for hysterectomy surgeries. However, as with any surgical intervention, there are risks of long-term complications. Studies have identified that a hysterectomy may increase the risk of cardiovascular events, menopause, depression, and other outcomes (Madueke-Laveaux et al., 2022). …
Improving Health Outcomes Among Patients With Chf Through Implementation Of Telehealth Depression Screening And Chf Symptom Management, Akudo Udodiri Unanwa
Improving Health Outcomes Among Patients With Chf Through Implementation Of Telehealth Depression Screening And Chf Symptom Management, Akudo Udodiri Unanwa
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects
Abstract
Background: Comorbid congestive heart failure (CHF) and depressive disorder is a leading cause of mortality globally. Despite effective detection and therapeutic options, 30-day hospital readmission rates for CHF patients remain high, with patients experiencing adverse clinical outcomes and poorer quality of life. Depression is identified as a common comorbidity among CHF patients that may negatively impact patient self-care and adherence to a CHF treatment plan.
Problem: Telehealth applications are an increasingly utilized approach to healthcare delivery that enhances timely access to healthcare services by reducing physical proximity and transportation barriers to care. Currently, telehealth screening for CHF in the …

Abstract
Objective - Working mothers face mental strain when returning to work due to the challenges of the current child care system. It is unclear how the instability of the child care sector impacts the mental health of working mothers.
Methods - The systematic review of literature was conducted to identify existing evidence to determine the influence access to quality, dependable, and affordable child care has on maternal mental health outcomes in working mothers. Multiple databases were used including PubMed and Scopus.
Results - Subsidized programs help reduce the cost of child care, however, income eligibility criteria makes it difficult …
Move For A Healthy Mind: A Program Of Peer-Led Physical Activity For Adolescents With Depression And Anxiety, Emily Edwards
Move For A Healthy Mind: A Program Of Peer-Led Physical Activity For Adolescents With Depression And Anxiety, Emily Edwards
Master's Projects and Capstones
The following discusses adolescent depression and anxiety and the utilization of physical activity as an intervention or coping mechanism. Adolescents have been experiencing increased rates of anxiety or depression diagnoses over the past roughly two decades. Adolescence is, physiologically, a formative period in the developmental stage from childhood to adulthood. Current barriers to achieving optimal mental health among the adolescent population include the stigmatization of mental health issues, lack of education, socioeconomic status and healthcare access. Further, physical activity has been studied and identified to be an effective treatment for individuals experiencing depression and anxiety. In an effort to treat …
Burnout, Depression And Suicide Prevention For Nursing Staff In High-Intensity Settings, April Ritchie
Burnout, Depression And Suicide Prevention For Nursing Staff In High-Intensity Settings, April Ritchie
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects
Nurses working in high-intensity settings experience burnout at higher rates than in other nursing areas. Burnout in healthcare is a problem estimated as high as 70% by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Burnout can lead to depressive symptoms, which can lead to suicidal ideation in affected healthcare providers, which makes early identification and treatment of utmost importance to the mental and physical wellbeing of these nurses.
The purpose of this project is to examine burnout in nursing staff working in high-intensity areas of the hospital in order to help identify burnout and/or depressive symptoms before they lead to …

Evaluating The Effectiveness Of Peer Engagement And Knowledge (Peak): A Community-Based Group Intervention For Youth In Hawai‘I, Jennifer T. T. Ho
Doctoral Dissertations
This study is a program evaluation with a mixed methods design that evaluated the effectiveness of Peer Engagement and Knowledge (PEAK), a six-week community-based group intervention that incorporates mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) to address multiple health behaviors for multiracial youth in Hilo, Hawai‘i. A total of 51 youth, ages 12-23 years old, participated in this study which included pre-/posttest analyses of health risk factors such as substance use and depression and health promoting factors such as resilience, self-esteem, and mindfulness. Burnout, Depression And Suicide Prevention For Nurses In High-Intensity Settings, April Ritchie
Burnout, Depression And Suicide Prevention For Nurses In High-Intensity Settings, April Ritchie
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects
Problem: Burnout in healthcare has been reported as high as 35% for hospital nurses in acute care and occurs at higher rates in high-intensity settings. Burnout can lead to depressive symptoms, which can lead to suicidal ideation in affected healthcare providers and warrants further attention.
Context: Studies indicate that identification and interventions can help improve burnout; therefore, nurses in the emergency department (ED), intensive care unit (ICU), labor and delivery (L&D), and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) completed education, surveys, and tools to identify and treat the problem.
Interventions: Nurse education on burnout, depression, and suicide was completed, and …

Master's Projects and Capstones
Major depressive disorder is a psychiatric illness that is associated with a variety of debilitating symptoms such as persistent sadness, lack of interest and motivation, lassitude, pessimistic thoughts, and in severe cases, suicidal ideation and behavior. Current psychological and pharmacological treatments have been demonstrated efficacious; however, an ever-growing number of individuals frequently report minimal to no improvement with these treatments; and in some cases, a worsening of symptoms. This inadequacy to treatment is commonly known as treatment-resistant depression. At Kadima Neuropsychiatry Institute, Dr. Feifel treats individuals with treatment-resistant depression with advanced treatments such as TMS and ketamine. During my fieldwork …
