Background/aim: In this study, we aimed to compare the effects of propofol-ketamine and propofol-fentanyl sedations on postprocedure nausea-vomiting in children undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Materials and methods: This study included 100 pediatric patients (2-10 years old) who had propofol-ketamine and propofol-fentanyl for sedation to undergo MRI. The patients were divided into two groups, and sedation was performed through propofol-ketamine (Group K; n = 50) or propofol-fentanyl (Group F; n = 50). For sedation induction, intravenous (IV) bolus of 1.2 mg/kg propofol and 1 mg/kg ketamine were administered in Group K, IV bolus of 1.2 mg/kg propofol, and 1 µg/kg …

Differences In Corpus Callosum Morphology Between Healthy Adolescents Andadolescents With Migraine: A Case Control Study, Mustafa Emre Akin, Ayşegül Neşe Çitak Kurt

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: This study objected to compare the measurements of corpus callosum substructures of adolescents with migraine and healthy adolescents. Materials and methods: In a case-control design, adolescents aged 12-18 years with the diagnosis of migraine and healthy control group had brain magnetic resonance imaging examination. The CC dimensions including anteroposterior length, truncus, genu and splenium widths of the case and control groups were measured and compared. Results: The sample consisted of 188 adolescents, 109 girls (58.0%), and 79 boys (42.0%). Of these 87 (46.3%) were in the migraine group and 101 (53.7%) were in the healthy control group. The mean …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillus (ABPA) is a lung disease caused by hypersensitivity from Aspergillus fumigatus. Diagnostic criteria, staging systems and treatment methods for ABPA disease have been reported in studies evaluating populations, the majority of which are adult patients. Our study aimed to discuss the use of ABPA diagnostic criteria in children, the success of other alternative regimens to oral corticosteroids in the treatment of ABPA, and the changes that occur during treatment, in the light of the literature. Materials and methods: Between January 2017 and 2020, patients diagnosed with ABPA at the Dokuz Eylül University Child Allergy and Immunology …
