Background/aim: Strongyloides stercoralis causes life-threatening hyperinfection or disseminated strongyloidiasis in immunocompromised patients such as HIV-positive, organ transplantation, and cancer patients. This study investigated the presence of strongyloidiasis in immunocompromised patients for the first time in Turkey. Materials and methods: Serum and stool samples were collected from 108 patients (25.9% of them were chronic renal failure and 74.1% were renal transplantation patients) who were admitted to Ege University Medical School in İzmir, located in western Turkey. Background/aim: There are limited studies on genotyping and phylogenetic analysis of norovirus in Turkey, and this has not previously been studied in the Eastern Anatolia region. The aim of the present study was to determine the norovirus profile in this region with genotyping and phylogenetic analysis. Materials and methods: Included in the study were stool samples obtained from 427 people from different age groups in Eastern Anatolia. Background/aim: In Turkey, few systematic reviews have analyzed the results of studies on the isolation rates of urinary tract infection agents and their antibiotic susceptibilities. This review was done to fill this gap and enable the correct application of guideline-based medical therapy by determining the isolation rates and antibiotic susceptibilities of different Enterobacteriaceae species in Turkey. Materials and methods: Relevant studies found from various databases with the help of previously specified search strategies were examined and eliminated according to eligibility criteria. Background/aim: The chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne disease and has recently been causing explosive outbreaks. The CHIKV has spread throughout all continents. Although the first chikungunya case imported from India to Turkey was reported in 2012, there is no detailed epidemiologic study in Turkey yet. Background/aim: Immunogenicity and safety of a primary series of a fully liquid, hexavalent DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP-T vaccine given at 2, 3, and 4 months of age compared to licensed comparators and a DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP-T booster at 15?18 months were evaluated. Materials and methods: This was a Phase III, randomized, open-label trial. Primary series (no hepatitis B [HB] at birth) of DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP-T (N = 155) (group 1) or licensed control vaccines (DTaP-IPV//PRP-T and standalone HB: N = 155) (group 2) and DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP-T booster were administered. This study was planned to determine the prevalences of the Nosema spp. and the black queen-cell virus (BQCV) among honeybees (Apis mellifera) raised in the province of Van by PCR and to determine the molecular characteristics of the determined isolates. A total of 260 adult worker bees from 26 colonies at 5 apiary locations belonging to the province of Van in April and May 2015 were collected for this reason. Samples were examined microscopically. The study aimed to examine the short-run and long-run relationship between beef consumption and beef prices, chicken meat prices, and per capita income for the period of 1994?2014 in Turkey by employing the ARDL/bounds test approach. After deciding on the presence of cointegration between the related variables, a parsimonious VECM model was estimated to conduct the structural analyses of the impulse response function and variance decomposition. The results of the bounds test suggest a long-run equilibrium relationship between beef consumption and its selected determinants. A 2.5-year-old small male Cavalier King Charles spaniel was brought to Ondokuz Mayıs University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Animal Hospital with symptoms of severe watery diarrhea, pain during defecation, intermittent cough, vomiting, and emaciation. Examination of the fecal smear revealed moderate infection of Strongyloides stercoralis larvae and two adult females. Counting of the larvae in feces was performed by Baermann method and 20 larvae were determined per gram of feces. The dog was treated with ivermectin (Avromec, 0.2 mg/kg subcutaneously) and multivitamin syrup (Vitabiol) for 5 days for supporting the body condition. This paper is the first clinical case report …
