Detection Of Coxiella Burnetii In Cattle By Pcr, Şükrü Kirkan, Osman Kaya, Serten Tekbiyik, Uğur Parin

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study is aimed to detect Coxiella burnetii in cattle by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). A total of 138 cattle blood samples were collected from 8 farms and then examined in laboratory conditions. The examination of Coxiella burnetii was carried out by PCR with specific primers. In this study, a total of 6 (4.3%) cattle serum samples were found PCR positive for Coxiella burnetii. This result proves that cattle are an important reservoir of Coxiella burnetii infection.

Presence of the chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) infection in chicken flocks in some provinces of Turkey was investigated by ELISA and PCR in this study. From 38 flocks (16 commercial layer, 10 commercial broilers, 4 breeder layers and 8 breeder broilers), 922 serum samples were tested for CIAV-specific antibodies using a commercially available competitive ELISA. CIAV antibodies were positive in 609 (66.0%) sera from 34 flocks (89.5%). A total of 95 thymus samples from 25 flocks, 57 samples from 15 commercial layers, and 38 samples from 10 commercial broiler flocks were tested by PCR. In 53 (55.8%) thymus samples …

Aim: The spectrum of clinical intestinal disease due to Entamoeba histolytica infection ranges from an asymptomatic carrier state to fulminant colitis with an array of manifestations. The extent of strain diversity for E. histolytica and the extent to which strains differ in virulence are not clearly known. In this study, we aimed to investigate the genetic diversity of E. histolytica isolates from Turkey. Materials and Methods: In order to study genetic diversity, the serine-rich gene of E. histolytica (SREHP) was investigated in 26 clinical isolates from Turkey by nested PCR amplification and restriction enzyme fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. Results: …
