Abstract

Objective: As the fastest growing crime in the world (Walker-Rodriguez, & Hill, 2011) and with sex slaves found in all 50 states (Grace et al, 2014), finding a solution to the problem of sex slavery is critical. One study showed 63.3% of sex slave survivors were treated in the emergency department while enslaved, revealing an opportunity for healthcare providers to intervene (The Emergency Nurses Association, 2015). Background and Objectives: Will aromatherapy make a difference on student cognitive test anxiety among fundamental nursing students? The purpose of this literature review was to assess the effect of aromatherapy as a teaching strategy to decrease test anxiety and improve student cognition and academic performance.

Methods: A pilot research study was conducted on eight fundamental nursing students, using a mixed method approach. The purpose of this review of literature is to evaluate the effects of cinnamon on hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) and fasting blood glucose/fasting plasma glucose (FBG/FPG) in various populations such as type II diabetes, prediabetics, metabolic syndrome, and overweight or obese individuals.

Research Design and Methods

A comprehensive literature review was done with the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) database using the keywords, cinnamon, type II diabetes, diabetes, HbA1c, and FBS. There have been many proposed solutions to decrease emergency department (ED) overcrowding and increase the quality of care in this particular population. However, there is little research suggesting the use of combining short-term observational units, as well as transition teams, in order to reduce ED length of stay (LOS) in patients awaiting disposition or inpatient bed assignments.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of using short-term observational units and transition teams in order to decrease length of stay in patients originating from the emergency department who are awaiting disposition or inpatient bed assignments.
