The term odontogenic keratocyst was first described by Philipsen in 1956. This cyst actually arises from the cell rests of dental lamina. It can occur anywhere in the jaw but is commonly seen in the posterior part of the mandible. Since the clinical features and radiological appearance are not characteristic this condition is commonly misdiagnosed. This is more so when the lesion is related to the nonvital tooth. Odontogenic keratocyst has been rechristened as keratocystic odontogenic tumor by WHO working group in 2005. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is an extensively used material in dentistry because of its aesthetics, processability, and reparability. However, PMMA is still far from being ideal in fulfilling the mechanical requirements of prosthesis. PMMA-based denture base polymers exhibit low fracture resistance and radiopacity behavior. Efforts to improve the mechanical and radiopacity properties of denture base materials through inclusion of silica-based fillers are ongoing. Although silane-treated siliceous fillers are commonly used, they are not sufficiently strong.They also exhibit cracks, which either cut through the glass fillers or propagate around the filler particles. The emergence of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) as endodontic repair filling material has generated a lot of interest due to its superior sealing ability and biocompatibility. Although MTA possesses superior sealing ability to traditional endodontic repair filling materials, such as calcium hydroxide, but it has poor handling characteristics. A novel endodontic repair filling materials with similar chemical composition, but improved handling characteristics, was recently developed. This mixed method study examines factors related to poor access to oral health care of young adults who have transitioned from foster care. Foster youth who left care without support were 4.7 times more likely and young women were 3.4 times more likely to have unmet dental needs. Interviews and focus groups supported the lack of oral health care many of these youth experience upon exiting foster care. Most states’ Medicaid programs do not provide comprehensive dental care for adults past the age of 20 and this is not changed by the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act of …
