Introduction: Eating Disorders (ED) are a current pandemic affecting boys, girls, men, and women of all ages, races, sizes, and backgrounds. Just in the United States alone, nine percent of the population, or 28.8 million Americans, will have an eating disorder in their lifetime.¹ This statistic only takes into account the people who sought help, but there are still millions that go untreated or undiagnosed throughout their lifetime. Background College females experience much stress from a variety of areas in their lives. Often times this stress affects usual eating behaviors and may even lead to disordered eating habits.

Objectives To examine whether stress affects the eating habits of college females in this study and how their eating is affected. We assumed that stress would affect eating habits. We also examined how stress makes a person a feel and if that can influence or contribute to disordered eating habits.

Eating disorders have become so widespread in our society that it is estimated that seven to ten million women and one million men have an eating disorder. Eating disorders do not discriminate; they can affect people of any race, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, and economic status. Research shows that about 76 percent of eating disorders begin between 11 and 20 years of age. Of all the diagnosed eating disorders, 77 percent will have a duration of one to fifteen years of the individual's life. Six percent of serious eating disorder cases end in death.
