Current research demonstrated that childhood obesity has dramatically increased, especially in the rural South. Current research suggests that 25% of children are currently obese while there has been a 75% increase in relative obesity in children over the past three decades. A correlational, descriptive design was utilized to examine the following hypothesis : There will be a significant correlation among the variables of selfesteem, lifestyle, and body mass index in children. The purpose of this study was to determine if a significant correlation exists among body mass index, lifestyles, and self-esteem in children.
