A Rare Presentation Of Miller Fisher Syndrome, A Rare Variant Of Guillain Barre Syndrome, Saumya Mittal

Guillain Barre syndrome presents as acute onset of gradually progressive ascending flaccid paralysis with hyporeflexia or areflexia. The variants are acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, acute motor axonal neuropathy, acute motor sensory axonal neuropathy, and Miller Fisher syndrome. Miller Fisher syndrome includes symptoms that form a classical triad of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and hyporeflexia or areflexia. This case presents a case of Miller Fisher syndrome with atypical features wherein the patient had normal reflexes and his reflexes remained normal in follow-up.

Post-Partum Haemorrhage - The Ultimate Challenge To Emergency Medicine, Akshata Ammembal

Post-partum haemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal mortality globally. This report elaborates the diagnosis and treatment of a 31-year-old woman with PPH, treated in our tertiary centre. On presentation, she showed all signs of hypovolemic shock and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Persistent fresh vaginal bleeding led to the decision to perform an emergency hysterectomy. She required massive transfusion but consequently developed transfusion-associated lung injury (TRALI), for which she was effectively treated. Background: Globally, the health care delivery system is focusing on the involvement of the inter-professional team. Inter-professional education (IPE) is an important strategy to train the students to be ready for collaborative practice. This study aimed to evaluate the students’ preference and readiness towards IPE. Methods: This crosssectional study was conducted in a private medical institution in Malaysia. A total of 168 medical and 129 dental students were recruited for this study. Fibromatosis colli presents in 0.4% of infants as a firm palpable mass in the middle or lower thirds of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.1 The typical age of presentation ranges between two to four weeks of life. It is unilateral in 75% of cases and occurs due to fibrosis within the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Although no single entity has been able to explain the etiology, birth trauma is often attributable.
