Prediction And Outcomes Of Acute Kidney Injury In Severe Trauma Patients, Ahmed M. Zahran, Ibrahim M. S K. El Ghobashy, Magdi A. Lolah

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective To define and determine acute kidney injury (AKI) based on the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcome criteria in severe trauma patients, and to evaluate injury severity score (ISS) in the prediction of AKI and outcomes. Background Because of the great risk of AKI in severe trauma that may be life threatening especially if uncontrolled, early assessment of it reduces mortality of polytraumatized patients. Patients and methods This is a prospective study on 116 trauma patients, who were presented to the Emergency Department of Menoufia University Hospital from April 2019 to April 2020. ISS and the Acute Physiology and Chronic …

Assessment Of Clinical Response To Trauma And Burn Multiple-Casualty Patients In Menuofia University Hospitals, Athar F. Lasheen, Hatem M. Sultan, Mahmoud Abo Salem, Mohamed A. Megahed, Shawky S. Gad, Tamer F. Abd El- Aziz Dec 2021

Assessment Of Clinical Response To Trauma And Burn Multiple-Casualty Patients In Menuofia University Hospitals, Athar F. Lasheen, Hatem M. Sultan, Mahmoud Abo Salem, Mohamed A. Megahed, Shawky S. Gad, Tamer F. Abd El- Aziz

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objectives To evaluate the level of clinical response of Menuofia university hospitals in the management of trauma and burn multiple-casualty patients according to the guidelines in a major incident. Background Providing clinical care to multiple casualties is the comparatively 'easy' part of in-hospital major incident management. The key is to plan, be flexible within the plan, and to train staff in advance. Patients and methods This prospective study was conducted on two groups consisted of 138 patients presented in trauma and burn major incidents. The clinical response of the emergency department of the hospital was assessed by hospital major incident …

Trauma-Injury Severity Score Versus Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation Iv Score In Predicting Mortality, Ayman A. Albatanony, Mohammed N. Nassar, Moharam A. Abd Elshaheed, Mona Km Mesrega Jun 2019

Trauma-Injury Severity Score Versus Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation Iv Score In Predicting Mortality, Ayman A. Albatanony, Mohammed N. Nassar, Moharam A. Abd Elshaheed, Mona Km Mesrega

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective The objective of this study was to compare the performances of Trauma-Injury Severity Score (TRISS) and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) IV in predicting mortality of seriously injured patients with polytrauma. Background Several scoring systems have been developed to evaluate trauma outcomes. The TRISS and APACHE IV are commonly used to predict injury severity and the risk of mortality. Patients and methods The study was conducted on 100 of seriously injured patients with polytrauma attending the Emergency Department of the Menoufia University Hospital from 2016 to 2017. The required variables for calculating the two scores were recorded. …

Comparison Of Thoracic Epidural Analgesia Versus Parenteral Analgesia For Traumatic Multiple Rib Fractures, Ashraf A. Zein Eldin, Mohamed S. Abdelmotelb, Mohamed M. Abdelsabour, Moharram A. Mohamed Jun 2018

Comparison Of Thoracic Epidural Analgesia Versus Parenteral Analgesia For Traumatic Multiple Rib Fractures, Ashraf A. Zein Eldin, Mohamed S. Abdelmotelb, Mohamed M. Abdelsabour, Moharram A. Mohamed

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective The aim of this study was to compare between epidural analgesia and parenteral analgesia for management of traumatic multiple rib fractures. Background Chest wall trauma is most commonly seen after motor vehicle collision and accounts for 8% of all trauma admissions. It is a marker of severity and contributes to the morbidity and mortality of injured patients, with the elderly and patients with poor respiratory reserve being most vulnerable. Rib fractures are the commonest of all chest injuries and are identified in 10% of patients after trauma. Pain limits one's ability to cough and breathe deeply, resulting in sputum …

Role Of Ultrasonography In Blunt Abdominal Trauma, Adel M. Alwakil, Rehab M. Habib, Sharehan Abdelmonem Sep 2017

Role Of Ultrasonography In Blunt Abdominal Trauma, Adel M. Alwakil, Rehab M. Habib, Sharehan Abdelmonem

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective The aim of the study was to assess the role of ultrasonography (US) focused assessment with sonography in trauma (FAST) at the time of presentation and ultrasound repeated after 12–24 h in early diagnosis of intra-abdominal injury (IAI) following blunt abdominal trauma (BAT) and for follow-up. Background US was used in patients with IAI. Trauma is the most common cause of mortality. The most common mechanisms resulting in BAT among patients were motor vehicle collisions (73%), motorcycle collisions (7%), auto–pedestrian collisions (6%), and falls (6%). Patients and methods This is a prospective study of 50 patients presented to the …
