Theologies of suffering have been used by theologians, ministers, and faithful alike to try to understand why God allows innocent suffering. These ideas have been applied to wars, violence, starvation, grief, mental health challenges, and the list goes on. The primary focus of this project is the impact that theologies of suffering have had on the perception of mental health, the experience of those enduring the suffering, and the stigma surrounding treatment. Communication is an essential tool for maintaining quality care in any health care setting, including long-term care. Interdisciplinary communication is also essential in providing and coordinating care that addresses resident needs. Lack of communication can lead to safety concerns for residents and staff, decreased care proficiency, ineffective care plans, and decreased staff satisfaction. Upon review of the surveys among staff at the long-term care facility, it was identified that nursing and housekeeping staff highlighted the admission process to be an area that they would like to see improvement in. Pressure injuries are an ongoing problem for people over the age of 65 who have chronic comorbid conditions. Many interventions have been implemented to decrease pressure injuries. Pressure injuries cause pain and can lead to medical issues including sepsis and death. The cost of pressure injuries is high due to the medical complications that result from the pressure injury. Client repositioning is an extremely important intervention to prevent pressure injuries. Risk assessment is also important in order to identify clients at risk to support early interventions. The most common eye infection in people with diabetes is diabetic retinopathy (DR). It might cause blurred vision or even total blindness. Therefore, it is essential to promote early detection to prevent or alleviate the impact of DR. However, due to the possibility that symptoms may not be noticeable in the early stages of DR, it is difficult for doctors to identify them.
