A mixture of essential oils and a plant-based extract in the form of shampoo and spot-on were shown to have in vitro antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. The purpose of this open-label clinical trial was to evaluate the efficacy of these two products for the management of canine localized superficial pyoderma. Twenty dogs diagnosed with 3-4 localized pyoderma lesions were enrolled. The dogs were bathed weekly for 8 weeks with shampoo and 48 hours later, spot-on was applied near the lesions. Seroprevalence And Molecular Detection Of Lawsonia Intracellularis From Asymptomatic Horses In Korea, Yeonsu Oh, Md Mukter Hossain, Ho-Seong Cho
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
The study was performed to investigate the prevalence pattern of Lawsonia intracellularis in horses in Korea via serology and molecular detection. Total of 138 horse sera and 112 fecal samples, in pairs with sera, were collected from five provinces across the country. The sera were analyzed using blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (bELISA) to detect L. intracellularis-specific antibodies and the fecal samples were evaluated by the real-time PCR assay to detect DNA of L. intracellularis. Results showed that 94% of the horses had antibodies and the younger the age, the higher the seropositivity; “<2 years” (92%), “2-5 years” (96%), “6-10 years” (94%), and “>10 years” (93%). The objective of the present study was to compare the efficacy of three diluents on post-thaw motility, viability, and fertility of frozen chicken semen. Semen from Thai native cocks (Pradu Hang Dam; n=24) was collected, pooled, and randomly allocated into three groups, then diluted at a ratio of 1:3 (v:v) with Schramm, EK, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-based medium. The diluted semen samples were cooled down to 5ºC and then mixed with Dimethylformamide (DMF) (6% v/v). Semen straws were subjected to cryopreservation using liquid nitrogen vapor method. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) from rubber seed kernel (RSK) on growth performance and reproductive performance in dairy heifers. Twelve healthy and cycling Holstein Friesian dairy heifers were randomly divided into two dietary treatments as control group (TMR without RSK; (mean±SD) 31.82±4.25% PUFAs out of 2.65% total fatty acids) and RSK group (TMR containing RSK at 6.16%; 43.93±1.26% PUFAs out of 3.55% total fatty acids). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of slow reduction in water level during Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) harvest on growth performance, condition factor, hemato-biochemical parameters, genetic polymorphism, and genomic template stability. During tilapia harvest, water level was reduced from 150 to 30 cm in different duration as follows: group one (control), in 72 hours (h); group two, in 48 h; and group three, in 24 h. The present study was aimed to investigate body condition, hepatic insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1, IGF binding protein (BP)-1 and growth hormone receptor (GHR) mRNA abundance and specific energy metabolites in association with delayed ovarian resumption in Holstein lactating cows. Of 10 cows studied, 5 cows had normal ovarian resumption (NR group), whereas the remaining 5 cows had delayed ovarian resumption (AB group) within 7 wks after calving. The total sulfur amino acid (TSAA) requirements of commercial meat-type ducks were investigated by feeding diets supplemented with graded levels of DL-methionine (DL-met) compared with the standard recommendation for the strain during 3 growth phases. Five hundred male White Pekin ducklings were divided into 4 treatments, each of which consisted of 5 replicates (25 each) using a completely randomized design. From the birds aged 1-9 and 10-16 days, TSAA deficit diet significantly depressed growth rate and feed intake (P<0.05). During 10-16 days of age, the growth rate of the birds fed TSAA at 110% of the commercial requirement was faster than that of the 100% group, with the increase in growth rate and feed intake paralleling the TSAA intake (P<0.01). No significant effects of the TSAA level on productive performance of the birds from age 17-47 days were found. At the age of 47 days, increasing the TSAA levels up to 120% tended to decrease abdominal fat content (P=0.08), and significantly decreased blood uric acid concentration (P<0.01). There were no significant differences in carcass components and lipid profile in the serum. The TSAA level for optimum growth rate and FCR in commercial meat-type ducks is 100-110% of the recommended level for the strain, except during 10-16 days of age when 110% is recommended.

A one-and-a-half-year-old Shih-Tzu bitch went into natural labor after full term of her first pregnancy, giving birth to 4 puppies. One of them was a male which died at birth, 104 grams in weight and 12 centimeters in length. This puppy showed several facial abnormalities and skeletal deformities. It was preserved in 10% formalin for anatomical, histopathological, and radiographic studies. Seventy-eight unhealthy and forty-two apparently healthy looking freshwater aquarium fish belonging to twenty-six different species were collected from local aquarium stores in different cities and were investigated for the presence of mycobacteria in north-western Iran by culture and molecular methods. Using the culture method, Mycobacterium sp. was isolated from 31.6% of the fish (38 cases), while it was obtained in 30.8% (37 cases) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for a 439 bp fragment of the heat shock protein 65kD gene (hsp65). A 14-year-old neutered female mixed breed dog weighing 12 kg was admitted at the in-patient unit of The Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Chulalongkorn University in October 2017 with clinical signs of depressed, anorexia, weakness and continuous vomiting. However, no sign of abdominal pain was found. History taking showed that the dog had gait disorientation due to central nervous system disorder. A twelve-year-old, female Miniature pinscher had presented to the Ophthalmology Clinic, Animal Teaching Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University with sudden ocular pain on the right eye. It was disclosed from history taking that the dog always jumped onto furniture. It was three days that she began to show blepharospasm and squinting on the right eye, in particular. Ophthalmic examination revealed mild to moderate eyelid swelling. Blepharospasm was apparent. The dog was not relaxed during examination. Menace response and dazzle reflex were negative. Multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MDR S. aureus) is predominately present in humans and animals. Staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) is one of the representative toxins produced by S. aureus. The drug resistance patterns, presence of eighteen SE genes and staphylococcal cassette chromosome (SCCmec) in S. aureus strains isolated from human cellulitis, septicemia, mastitis and farmed ruminant mastitis were investigated and analyzed. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) accounted for 51.35% (76/148) and 48.65% (72/148), respectively. In order to prove the effect of “fixed time service”, this study aimed to determine reproductive efficiency of hormone manipulation to induce ovulation and improve pregnancy rate. Estrus cycles of fifty mares were monitored every other day until ovulation by ultrasound (control group). Cloacal papilloma is commonly found in Amazon parrots and macaws. There are many treatment options for cloacal papilloma. Chemical cautery is one of the recommended methods. In this study, 6 mature chestnut-fronted macaws (Ara severus) with cloacal papilloma were treated weekly with 50% silver nitrate solution. All tumors completely regressed after 2 to 5 weeks of treatment. One bird died after the second treatment from another cause. Eating behavior is influenced by various external stimuli, including food and ambient temperature (Ta). In dairy animals, high ambient temperature (HTa) decreases eating and subsequently reduces milk production. Eight crossbred non-lactating Saanen goats in late pregnancy fed under HTa condition were used to investigate the normal eating behavior by comparing the short-term eating pattern of control with 2% coconut oil supplemented formulations. Effects Of Monosodium Glutamate On Heart Beat And The Embryonic Development Of Zebrafish, Naowarat Suthamnatpong, Aranya Ponpornpisit

The effect of monosodium glutamate (MSG) on zebrafish, Danio rerio, embryo was investigated at different concentrations of ten-fold dilution of ten times lesser than the median lethal concentration (LC50). Zebrafish embryos in the MSG treated groups (40,000 ppm and 80,000 ppm) reached highest mortality rate at 100 % within 48 hpf and 96 hpf which is significantly different (p<0.05) from negative control group. According to the Probit analysis, the LC50 of MSG on zebrafish embryo at 48 hpf and 96 hpf were 15,200 ppm and 10,300 ppm, respectively. Under the observation, effects based on the toxicity endpoint composed of lethal, sublethal and malformation effects appeared within 144 hpf. Exposure to MSG at 1,500 ppm and 150 ppm significantly produced sublethal effects and malformation development to zebrafish embryo. MSG induced cardiotoxic effects in zebrafish embryo was observed at 15, 150 and 1,500 ppm. Our results demonstrate that zebra fish embryo is a good model for the detection of toxic potential of chemical substances. Also, our data suggest the need to reconsider the safety of MSG and elucidate its mechanism of adverse reaction in further studies.

Extended semen from 6 boars was centrifuged and then gently resuspended (CR), had the supernatant decanted to remove residual seminal plasma and resuspended in new extender (CD), or served as non-treated controls. Measures of sperm motility were assessed immediately after centrifugation and then every 24 h until 96 h using a computer-assisted sperm analyser. Total and progressive sperm motilities were reduced (P<0.05) by 48 h in CD. Total motility was not affected in CR sperm but progressive motility was reduced (P<0.05) at 72 h. Changes with time were very similar for VSL, VAP, VCL and BCF. Control values remained relatively stable but VCL, VSL, VAP and ALH were lower within minutes of centrifugation and decanting of CD sperm. Both CR and CD treatment values for all variables were lower (P<0.05) from 3 d. These data indicate that centrifugation can negatively affect boar sperm motility and that even the small amount of residual seminal plasma in fresh-extended boar semen has a protective role. Sperm age-associated reduced motility can be countered with caffeine.

A 9-year-old, neutered female Golden Retriever was presented with generalized seizures, abnormal mentation and ataxia. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed five separated masses at the left dorsal meninges, caudodorsal cerebellum, right cerebral cortex, olfactory lobe and right occipital lobe. Right rostrotentorial craniectomy was performed to debulk the tumor at the right cerebral cortex. On the basis of histopathological evaluation, the mass was diagnosed as GCTs. Immunohistochemistry of the mass demonstrated immunopositivity for vimentin and immunonegativity for GFAP, NSE, Desmin, S-100, CK14, CK8/18, CK19, and Ki67. เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : ปัจจุบันจำนวนผู้ป่วยโรคหัวใจมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มขึ้น ผู้ที่ป่วยเป็นโรคหัวใจจะมีปัญหาในการออกกำลังกายและทำกิจวัตรประจำวันต่าง ๆ ส่งผลให้มีคุณภาพชีวิตลดลง การออกกำลังกายฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจเป็นวิธีการช่วยให้ผู้ป่วยโรคหัวใจมีสมรรถภาพร่างกาย และระดับคุณภาพชีวิตดีขึ้น ผู้ป่วยโรคหัวใจควรได้รับการส่งเสริม ให้เข้าถึงบริการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจมากขึ้นวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาระดับความสามารถในการทำกิจกรรมออกกำลังกายและระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วยโรคหัวใจ ภายหลังจากการเข้ารับบริการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจ ณ.คลินิกฟื้นฟูหัวใจและปอด โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์วิธีการทำวิจัย : เป็นการศึกษาข้อมูลผู้ป่วยนอกจำนวน 22 รายที่เข้ารับการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจที่โรงพยาบาลอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นระยะเวลา 8 สัปดาห์ในด้านระดับความสามารถในการทำกิจกรรมออกกำลังกายด้วยการทดสอบการเดิน 6 นาที (6 minute walk test) และระดับคะแนนคุณภาพชีวิต (SF-36 Thai version) ระยะเวลาในการศึกษาระหว่างวันที่ 1 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2555 – 31 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2556ผลการศึกษา : ผู้ป่วยโรคหัวใจที่เข้ารับการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจเป็นชาย 15 ราย(ร้อยละ 68.2) หญิง 7 ราย (ร้อยละ 31.8) มีอายุเฉลี่ย 65.36 ± 11.10 ปีส่วนใหญ่ป่วยเป็นโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจ (coronary artery disease)14 ราย (ร้อยละ 63.6) มีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์การบีบตัวของหัวใจ (leftventricular ejection fraction) เฉลี่ย 38.4 ± 17.96% ผลการศึกษาการทดสอบด้วยการเดิน 6 นาทีและคะแนนคุณภาพชีวิตจากแบบสอบถาม SF-36 พบว่าก่อนเข้ารับการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจกลุ่มตัวอย่างสามารถเดินได้ระยะทางโดยเฉลี่ย 273.9 ± 137.42 ม. และหลังการเข้ารับการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจสามารถเดินได้ระยะทางโดยเฉลี่ย 346.32 ± 153.65 ม. โดยมีระยะทางเพิ่มขึ้นโดยเฉลี่ย72.38 ม. (P <0.001) ส่วนด้านคุณภาพชีวิตในภาพรวมหลังการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจ พบว่ามีคะแนนเฉลี่ยเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P <0.05) เมื่อเทียบกับก่อนเข้ารับการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจสรุป : กายฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจด้วยโปรแกรมการออกกำลังกายในระดับความหนักปานกลางสามารถเพิ่มระดับความสามารถในการทำกิจกรรมออกกำลังกาย และคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วยโรคหัวใจ และควรส่งเสริมให้ผู้ป่วยได้เข้าถึงบริการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจที่โรงพยาบาลเพิ่มขึ้น ในกรณีที่ไม่สามารถมารับบริการที่โรงพยาบาล ผู้ป่วยควรได้รับโปรแกรมการออกกำลังกายฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพหัวใจที่เหมาะสมไปปฏิบัติที่บ้านทุกราย.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : การลุกขึ้นยืนเป็นการเคลื่อนไหวพื้นฐานที่จำเป็นในชีวิตประจำวันในผู้สูงอายุที่มีความแข็งแรงและการทรงตัวลดลง เป็นปัจจัยสำคัญในการลุกขึ้นยืนจากท่านั่งได้อย่างง่ายและปลอดภัย การกระตุ้นการทำงานของระบบประสาทสั่งการมายังอวัยวะเป้าหมายให้ทำงานดีขึ้นเป็นสิ่งจำเป็น การจินตนาการเคลื่อนไหว เป็นกระบวนการที่สามารถเพิ่มการกระตุ้นการทำงานของระบบประสาทสั่งการ เนื่องจากการจินตนาการเคลื่อนไหว (motor imagery; MI) มีกระบวนการทำงานคล้ายกับการเคลื่อนไหวทางร่างกายที่เกิดขึ้น แต่มีความแตกต่างกันที่การจินตนาการจะไม่เห็นการเคลื่อนไหวทางกายเกิดขึ้น การประเมินการทำงานของระบบประสาทส่วนกลาง ในขณะจินตนาการเคลื่อนไหวสามารถประเมินได้หลายวิธี อาทิการวัดคลื่นไฟฟ้าสมอง (electroencephalography;EEG) ซึ่งเป็นวิธีที่ไม่รุกล้ำเข้าไปในร่างกาย การศึกษานี้จะเป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานในการพัฒนาโปรแกรมสำหรับการเพิ่มสมรรถภาพในการลุกขึ้นยืนในผู้สูงอายุและในผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเคลื่อนไหวได้วัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาจินตนาการลุกขึ้นยืนกับการลุกขึ้นยืนจริง โดยวัดจากชนิดของคลื่นไฟฟ้าสมอง ในผู้สูงอายุที่มีสุขภาพดีวิธีทำการวิจัย : อาสาสมัครจำนวน 19 ราย อายุระหว่าง 60 - 69 ปี วัดคลื่นไฟฟ้าสมองก่อนทำการลุกขึ้นยืน ในขณะทำการลุกขึ้นยืน และในขณะทำการจินตนาการลุกขึ้นยืนผลการศึกษา : พบลักษณะคลื่นไฟฟ้าบริเวณสมองส่วน frontal lobe, temporal lobe,parietal lobe และ occipital lobe เป็นคลื่นเบต้า (14 - 17 Hz)ก่อนทำการลุกขึ้นยืน ในขณะทำการลุกขึ้นยืน และในขณะทำการจินตนาการลุกขึ้นยืน อย่างไรก็ตามลักษณะคลื่นไฟฟ้าสมองบริเวณparietal และ occipital lobe พบว่ามีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P <0.05) ระหว่างก่อนลุกขึ้นยืน ขณะลุกขึ้นยืนกับขณะจินตนาการลุกขึ้นยืน โดยพบคลื่นเบต้า (14 - 17 Hz) ในช่วงก่อนทำการลุกขึ้นยืนและขณะลุกขึ้นยืน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 89.5 แต่ในขณะจินตนาการลุกขึ้นยืน พบคลื่นเบต้า (14 - 17 Hz) คิดเป็นร้อยละ 52.6สรุป : ลักษณะคลื่นไฟฟ้าสมองขณะลุกขึ้นยืนกับจินตนาการลุกขึ้นยืนที่บริเวณสมองส่วน frontal lobe, temporal lobe, parietal lobe และoccipital lobe มีลักษณะคล้ายกัน คือ เป็นคลื่นเบต้า ดังนั้นอาจสรุปได้ว่ากระบวนการทำงานของสมองในขณะจินตนาการเคลื่อนไหวมีกระบวนการทำงานคล้ายกับการเคลื่อนไหวจริง โดยเฉพาะในบริเวณสมองส่วน frontal lobe และ temporal lobe ในผู้สูงอายุที่มีสุขภาพดี.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : พนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบิน เป็นอาชีพที่มีความแตกต่างจากอาชีพอื่น ๆ ในด้านลักษณะงาน ตารางการบินที่ไม่สม่ำเสมอ การปรับตัวกับสิ่งแวดล้อมในสถานีปลายทาง รวมถึงการแก้ไขปัญหาเฉพาะหน้าที่เกิดขึ้นขณะปฏิบัติงานบนเครื่องบิน ปัญหาต่าง ๆ อาจนำมาสู่ภาวะทางสุขภาพจิตและการใช้กลไกทางจิตในการปรับตัวและแก้ปัญหาซึ่งยังไม่มีการศึกษาภาวะสุขภาพจิต และกลไกทางจิตของพนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบิน ในประเทศไทยมาก่อนวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาภาวะสุขภาพจิต กลไกทางจิต และปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสุขภาพจิตของพนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบิน สายการบินพาณิชย์แห่งหนึ่งในประเทศไทยวิธีการศึกษา : เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากพนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบินของสายการบินพาณิชย์แห่งหนึ่งในประเทศไทยในปี พ.ศ. 2559 จำนวน 260 รายระหว่างเดือนสิงหาคมถึงเดือนธันวาคม โดยใช้แบบสอบถามข้อมูลทั่วไป แบบสอบถามปัจจัยการทำงานแบบสอบถามปัจจัยทางจิตสังคมแบบประเมินกลไกทางจิต (DSQ-60) และแบบประเมินสุขภาพจิตคนไทย (TMHI-55) วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาการวิเคราะห์ไคสแควร์ค่าความเสี่ยงและช่วงความเชื่อมั่นที่ร้อยละ 95 การทดสอบค่าทีการวิเคราะห์สัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ของเพียร์สัน และสถิติถดถอยพหุคูณด้วยแบบจำลองลอจิสติกผลการศึกษา : ภาวะสุขภาพจิต พบว่ากลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่ มีภาวะสุขภาพจิตเท่ากับคนทั่วไป (ร้อยละ 52.3) ภาวะสุขภาพจิตดีกว่าคนทั่วไป(ร้อยละ 25.6) และ ภาวะสุขภาพจิตต่ำกว่าคนทั่วไป (ร้อยละ 22.1)ส่วนใหญ่ใช้กลไกทางจิตในด้าน adaptive defense มากที่สุด(ร้อยละ 83.7) เมื่อวิเคราะห์สถิติถดถอยพหุคูณ พบว่าปัจจัยเสี่ยงต่อภาวะสุขภาพจิตในระดับต่ำกว่าคนทั่วไป ได้แก่ ความพึงพอใจต่อผลการปฏิบัติงาน ในระดับไม่พึงพอใจเลย หรือ พึงพอใจน้อย (ORadj = 2.86:95%CI = 1.19 - 6.85) การใช้กลไกทางจิตด้าน affect regulatingdefense (ORadj = 6.92 : 95%CI = 2.85 - 16.81) และการมีปัญหากับเพื่อนร่วมงาน/หัวหน้างาน (ORadj= 2.22 : 95%CI = 1.06 - 4.64)สรุป : หน่วยงานควรมีการให้บริการให้คำแนะนำ และการช่วยเหลือปัญหาทางสุขภาพจิต ในรูปแบบที่สะดวกต่อการเข้าถึงบริการ รวมทั้งการเสริมสร้างทักษะในการทำงานและทักษะการแก้ปัญหาในชีวิตประจำวันเพื่อส่งเสริมให้พนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบิน มีทักษะในการแก้ไขปัญหา การใช้กลไกทางจิตที่เหมาะสม และมีภาวะสุขภาพจิตที่ดี.

ในประเทศไทยพบว่ามะเร็งเต้านมเป็นมะเร็งที่มีอุบัติการณ์สูงเป็นอันดับ 1 และการผ่าตัดถือได้ว่าเป็นหนึ่งในการรักษาหลักของผู้ป่วยมะเร็งเต้านม โดยวิธีการผ่าตัดเต้านมสองวิธีที่เป็นที่ยอมรับในปัจจุบัน คือ การผ่าตัดแบบสงวนเต้านม (breast-conservative therapy) และ totalmastectomy อย่างไรก็ตามในช่วงประมาณ 10 ปี ที่ผ่านมา การรักษาเต้านมโดยวิธี total mastectomyกลับมีการเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งการรักษามะเร็งเต้านมในปัจจุบันนั้นนอกจากในด้านการควบคุมโรคมะเร็งแล้ว การแก้ไขภาวะความพิการจากการผ่าตัดรักษาโรคมะเร็งเต้านม ก็เป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่จำเป็นต้องคำนึงถึงในการรักษาผู้ป่วย และยังเป็นการเพิ่มคุณภาพชีวิตให้กับผู้ป่วยให้สามารถกลับไปใช้ชีวิตประจำวันได้เหมือนบุคคลปกติทั่วไป การผ่าตัดเสริมสร้างเต้านม (breast reconstruction)หลังจากที่ผู้ป่วยได้รับการผ่าตัดมะเร็งเต้านมจึงมีบทบาทสำคัญและเป็นสิ่งที่จำเป็นต้องให้ข้อมูลกับผู้ป่วยเสมอ ในการตัดสินใจพิจารณาว่าจะแนะนำ breast reconstruction สำหรับผู้ป่วยจะต้องดูถึงปัจจัยหลายประการ ประกอบด้วย ระยะของมะเร็งเต้านม การให้ adjuvant therapy ระยะเวลาการทำผ่าตัดเสริมสร้างเต้านมหลังการตัดเต้านมเป็นผ่าตัดทันทีหรือผ่าตัดภายหลัง การยอมรับของผู้ป่วยสำหรับการใช้ prosthesis ความพร้อมของผู้ป่วยและความชำนาญของศัลยแพทย์ในการทำผ่าตัด การให้ข้อมูลที่ครบถ้วนรอบด้านเพื่อให้ผู้ป่วยได้ตัดสินใจเลือก และมีส่วนร่วมในแผนการรักษาอันจะนำมาซึ่งผลการรักษา ความร่วมมือในการรักษาและประโยชน์สูงสุดแก่ตัวผู้ป่วยนั่นเอง.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : นิสิตระดับปริญญาตรีชั้นปีที่ 1 นั้นมีความจำเป็นจะต้องปรับตัวกับสิ่งแวดล้อมใหม่ ทั้งในด้านการเรียนและสังคมเมื่อเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยแต่อย่างไรก็ตามงานที่ศึกษาวิจัยเกี่ยวกับสุขภาพจิตของนิสิตกลุ่มนี้ยังคงมีน้อยอยู่ในปัจจุบันวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาสุขภาพจิตและปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องของนิสิตระดับปริญญาตรีชั้นปีที่ 1วิธีการทำวิจัย : รวบรวมข้อมูลจากนิสิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยชั้นปีที่ 1 จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 993 ราย โดยการใช้แบบสอบถามที่มีสองส่วน คือ ส่วนของข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล และ Thai Mental Health Indicator (TMHI-66)ใช้การวิเคราะห์ทั้งแบบตัวแปรเดียวและหลายตัว เพื่อระบุปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสุขภาพจิตของกลุ่มตัวอย่างผลการศึกษา : นิสิตส่วนใหญ่ ร้อยละ 41.2 มีภาวะสุขภาพจิตในระดับเท่ากับคนทั่วไป แต่เมื่อนำไปวิเคราะห์ โดยการวิเคราะห์แบบถดถอยแบบคู่พบว่าตัวแปรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสุขภาพจิตของนิสิต มีทั้งหมด 16 ตัวแปรได้แก่ เพศชาย มีภูมิลำเนาอยู่ในกรุงเทพฯและปริมณฑล กลุ่มสาขาวิชาสายศิลป์ ค่าใช้จ่าย ที่ได้รับมากกว่า 8,000 บาทต่อเดือน รู้สึกไม่พึงพอใจในที่พักอาศัย มีความ สัมพันธ์กับครอบครัวที่ไม่ดี บิดามารดาไม่มีโรคประจำตัว รายได้ของครอบครัวไม่เพียงพอ ความสัมพันธ์กับเพื่อน ๆ ในมหาวิทยาลัยไม่ดี มีจำนวนเพื่อนสนิทมาก ไม่ค่อยเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมของมหาวิทยาลัยหรือคณะ และไม่พึงพอใจในคณะที่กำลังศึกษาสรุป : สุขภาพจิตของนิสิตปริญญาตรีชั้นปีที่ 1 มีระดับภาวะสุขภาพจิตระดับเดียวกับ คนทั่วไปในประเทศไทย.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : โรคเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนมีความซับซ้อนในการวินิจฉัยการรักษา และติดตามผลการรักษา และพบอุบัติการณ์เพิ่มขึ้นทุกปีการศึกษาก่อนหน้าพบความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างจำนวนไมโทคอนเดรียดีเอ็นเอ (mtDNA copies) และการเกิดโรคมะเร็งหลายชนิด แต่พบการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบจำนวน mtDNA copies ในชิ้นเนื้องอก ชิ้นเนื้อปกติข้างเคียง และเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวในโรคเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนจำนวนน้อยวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อวิเคราะห์และศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ของจำนวน mtDNA copiesในชิ้นเนื้องอก ชิ้นเนื้อปกติบริเวณข้างเคียง และเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของผู้ป่วยโรคเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนเทียบกับเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของกลุ่มควบคุม ร่วมกับการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบระดับ8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) ในชิ้นเนื้อของผู้ป่วยวิธีการทำวิจัย : ผู้ป่วยโรคเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนที่เข้ารับการรักษาผ่าตัดเนื้องอก จำนวน 48 ราย ทำการเก็บชิ้นเนื้องอก ชิ้นเนื้อปกติบริเวณข้างเคียง และตัวอย่างเลือดร่วมกับเก็บตัวอย่างเลือดในกลุ่มควบคุมจำนวน 100 ราย นำมาศึกษาจำนวน mtDNA copies ด้วยวิธี real-timepolymerase chain reaction และวัดระดับ 8-OHdG ด้วยวิธี enzymelinkedimmunosorbent assayผลการศึกษา : จำนวน mtDNA copies ในชิ้นเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนมีจำนวนน้อยกว่าในชิ้นเนื้อปกติบริเวณข้างเคียงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P = 0.018) พบว่าเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวมีจำนวน mtDNA copiesน้อยกว่าทั้งในชิ้นเนื้องอก (P <0.001) และในชิ้นเนื้อปกติบริเวณข้างเคียง (P <0.001) จำนวน mtDNA copies ในเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของผู้ป่วยโรคเนื้องอกกระดูก และเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนมีปริมาณน้อยกว่าในเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของกลุ่มควบคุมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ(P = 0.039) นอกจากนี้ยังพบความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกระหว่างจำนวนmtDNA copies ในชิ้นเนื้องอกและเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของผู้ป่วยรายเดียวกัน (r = 0.348, P = 0.021) และพบว่าระดับ 8-OHdGในชิ้นเนื้องอกมีระดับสูงกว่าในชิ้นเนื้อปกติบริเวณข้างเคียง (P <0.001)สรุป : ผลการศึกษาพบการลดลงของจำนวน mtDNA copies ในชิ้นเนื้องอกซึ่งเป็นไปในทิศทางเดียวกับการศึกษาในเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของผู้ป่วยอีกทั้งพบความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างจำนวน mtDNA copies ในชิ้นเนื้องอกและเซลล์เม็ดเลือดขาวของผู้ป่วย และพบระดับ 8-OHdG สูงขึ้นในชิ้นเนื้องอกเมื่อเทียบกับชิ้นเนื้อปกติ แสดงให้เห็นว่าเซลล์เนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนมีภาวะเครียดออกซิเดชันเพิ่มขึ้น อาจมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงจำนวน mtDNA copies ให้มีปริมาณลดลง ซึ่งเป็นกลไกสำคัญของการเจริญในโรคเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อน อาจนำจำนวน mtDNA copies มาประยุกต์ใช้เป็นตัวบ่งชี้การเจริญของเนื้องอกกระดูกและเนื้อเยื่ออ่อนได้.
