Urinary tract infection (UTI) accounts for up to 31% of sepsis diagnoses and is the fourth leading cause of infections in long-term care (LTC) facilities. Timed and prompted toileting programs are used by LTCs to reduce incontinence episodes, but there is a lack of information regarding the effectiveness of timed and prompted voiding incontinence management programs on the rate of UTIs. Introduction: Nursing homes (NHs) serve as a safety net for vulnerable populations such as older adults and people with disabilities. Nursing Home Administrators (NHAs) play a crucial role in managing the daily operations of NHs, including overseeing direct care staff and establishing the facility’s strategic direction. Unfortunately, NHs have consistently faced high NHA turnover rates, which have been linked to poor organizational performance. The objective of this study was to use a Balanced Centricity (BC) approach to describe how personal values related to experienced quality of care are defined for residents, family and nursing staff in nursing homes. Capturing the values from a multi-stakeholder perspective, a qualitative approach was conducted in which the stakeholders’ (e.g., residents, family members of residents and nursing staff; a triad) experiences, opinions and values were explored. The effects of Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters have increased the focus on nursing homes, particularly nursing home emergency preparedness. Nursing home administrators and direct care employees have described the challenges faced when responding to an emergency event. Due to numerous emergency preparedness insufficiencies, requirements were implemented to protect the vulnerable population of older adults who reside in nursing homes. Long-Term Care (LTCs) facilities and nursing homes have been an essential part of the healthcare industry to meet the needs of older adults. However, Electronic Medical Records (EMRs/ EHR within LTC facilities and nursing homes have lagged more than in other healthcare sectors. This research analyzed the impact of implementing EMR/EHR and Computerized Decision Support Systems within LTC facilities and nursing homes. In nursing homes and LTC facilities where EMR/EHR has been implemented, patient outcomes improved by reduced pressure ulcers and increased identification of patients at risk for malnutrition and falls. Introduction: Internationally, the adoption of technology into residential aged care settings has been slow and fraught with multiple challenges for residents, staff and service providers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acceptability, efficiency, and quality of health information system implementation into aged care.
