Background: Founded in 2009, the CD Doyle Clinic is a student-run free clinic with a mission to provide high-quality equitable care to those in need, regardless of their background. Since 2020, our clinic has served residents at the Esperanza community, a state-sanctioned encampment for people experiencing homelessness in Southeast Austin. The majority of the patients that we serve navigate complex medical and psychosocial conditions. Our clinic operates as an ambulatory care center, primarily addressing acute care and psychiatric concerns. Recognizing our limits as a free clinic, we collaborate alongside community partners, such as Travis County’s CommUnityCare Mobile Health Team, to …

Information on how adequate virtual programs perform are mixed. We investigate the extent to which a virtual program can increase health literacy. To accomplish this, the professors of the sociology program launched the Recovery and Resilience Academy (RnR Academy). The aim of RnR Academy is to serve as an outreach and educational center for the …

With the support of the HRSA, the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) was established to increase the number of students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in healthcare. HCOP combines the efforts of high school, undergraduate, and medical students in creating an original project to serve a need within the community. In this HCOP project, we aim to address the issue of mental health with high school students at two New Jersey high schools: Pennsauken and Williamtown.

As of 2013 around 16, 500 residents in Washington D.C. were living with HIV. Of the 16,500 residents, 1.5% or 246 cases were among the transgender population. The majority of those cases were among transgender women at 67.5%1. Gaps remain in addressing HIV among transgender sex workers, most of them on a systemic level. This could be attributed to misclassification of transgender women as men who have sex with men, or systemic neglect2. This lack of knowledge …
