Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is found worldwide, but the burden is much higher in correctional settings compared to general populations. In a detention centered located in Washington, the nurses at booking do not know who are at risk for Hepatitis C. This Doctor of Nursing (DNP) project attempted to answer the question of if educating nursing staff at the detention facility in Washington increase their knowledge of the importance of screening inmates for hepatitis C.The purpose of this project was to educate nursing staff about the risk factors for HCV so that proper screening can be done.
