Prevention and screening are crucial to help minimize the spread of this disease. The pathophysiology of cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV) is important for practitioners to understand to treat patients accordingly. The correlation between HPV and cervical cancer is a significant concept to learn and teach patients as it is different than other disease processes because HPV is a virus that causes cervical cancer.
