Objectives: to evaluate RNA expression levels of Janus Kinase 2 (JAK 2) and protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type C (PTPRC) genes in SLE and AS and correlate them with the severity of the two diseases. Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disorder with a wide range of clinical symptoms. Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease of young adult, affecting the axial skeleton and articular joints.
