Identification is of paramount importance in medical as well as medicolegal field. Identification of living is required for settling civil and criminal disputes like marriage, inheritance, identifying the victim or accused of crimes. In dead, issues of identification assumes greater importance in decomposed, dismembered, mutilated or fragmentary remains. Meningitis causes significant morbidity and mortality in paediatrics and globally account for 180,000 deaths each year. In India, meningitis is the leading cause of mortality in children below five years of age and accounts to 22% of death. Current work is aimed to design a real time-PCR based method to identify and characterize the meningitis pathogens and provide an early, rapid and accurate diagnosis of meningitis as it carries high rate of mortality, especially with delay in diagnosis. In addition, our group is working on diabetic foot infection pathogens using molecular genotyping approaches of MLST, MLVA and ribosomal sequencing.

Oral Health, Dentistry, Periodontology, Interrelation Between Periodontal Disease And Systemic Diseases, Diet And Periodontal Disease, Vijayendra Pandey Dr.

Health collection

There is increasing evidence that Periodontitis is related to a number of systemic diseases and it may be a risk factor for several chronic inflammatory diseases including cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease , angina and myocardial infarction, adverse pregnancy outcomes, respiratory diseases and diabetes mellitus.

Resistin an adipokine found in adipose tissue and also released by inflammatory cells is associated with the upregulation of inflammatory process. Chronic low grade inflammation is emerging as a conceivable etiologic mechanism linking periodontitis and obesity.

Objectives-

To assess whether obese individuals are at increased risk of severe periodontitis by comparing periodontal clinical parameters (GI, PI, …

Language Development And Disorders, Sudhin Karuppali Dr.

Health collection

The field of language development and its disorders is a widely researched area in the field of speech-language pathology. However, language development in the Indian population is vaguely studied, probably because of the diversity of languages and cultures in this country. This has time and again resulted in difficulties in estimating the language levels of children with language impairments, consequently becoming challenging to prepare customized interventional plans. The lack of standardized language assessment tools has always been a concern in clinical practice. This lacuna in establishing accurate language levels has been observed in the adolescent population as well, which is …

Extracellular Vesicles, Stem Cells And Neurological Disorders, Dinesh Upadhya Dr. Nov 2022

Extracellular Vesicles, Stem Cells And Neurological Disorders, Dinesh Upadhya Dr.

Health collection

Extracellular vesicles, including exosomes and microvesicles, offer great opportunities for understanding biological mechanisms and diagnostic prospects for various disorders. Our laboratory explores the potential of extracellular vesicles from multiple sources for mechanistic studies and for therapeutic applications to various neurological disorders. The laboratory has a well-established facility for generating, isolating and characterizing extracellular vesicles and aims to bring these EVs to clinical applications.

The pathological alterations that manifest during early embryonic development due to inherited and acquired factors trigger various neurodevelopmental disorders, including epilepsy, neuronal migration disorders and neurocognitive dysfunctions. Our work also focuses on the potential use of stem …

Assessment Of School- Going Children For 2d’S And Adolescent Health Using Rbsk As A Screening Tool In East Singh Hum District Of Jharkhand -A Comparative Cross-Sectional Study, Khushboo Juneja

Health collection

Presently working on ICMR-STS project to assess the prevalence of 2D’s and adolescent health conditions and to determine the association between the various biosocial factors and health conditions among the school-going children. This study will throw light on the prevalence of 2D’s and adolescent health in our study area that would be able to fill in the gaps in literature for the same.

Hypertension (HTN) is one of the common preventable noncommunicable diseases. Only 53–70% of individuals with HTN are estimated to be taking the medication as advised by their physicians. In 2008, an estimated 17.3 million people died from cardiovascular diseases, representing 30% of all global deaths. By 2020, an 11% rise in deaths due to cardiovascular diseases has been estimated in India, for which HTN is one of the major contributing factors. As per the World Health Organization report of World Hypertension Day 2017, it was estimated at the global level that of the people with HTN, only 57% are aware …
