Among research that currently exists, no studies thus far combine elements of COVID-19, long-distance relationships, and Relational Turbulence Theory to explain how each of these elements impacts the others, if at all. Previous research does exist on each of these elements individually, although research regarding the long-term effects of COVID-19 on relationships is minimal considering the pandemic is ongoing. Long-distance relationships have been studied using Relational Turbulence Theory in previous studies within military relationships but have not been studied in connection with either COVID-19 or among college students. Middle school is one of the earliest and perhaps first times of significant social and physical transition that impacts early adolescent development. The purpose of this research was to measure the efficacy of an 8-week undergraduate
course in resilience. Finding useful strategies to understand how college students manage stress
and adversity is important to college administrators. The main topics that were assessed were
resilience, well-being, and assertiveness. Participants for this study included undergraduate
students enrolled either in a 8-week course on Resilience or a Public Health course. The
Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Questionnaire for Eudaimonic Well-Being, and the Simple
Rathus Assertiveness Scale were used to determine the efficacy of the 8-week course. Overall,

Resilience is considered the ability that a person gains positive achievements despite exposure to significantly adverse life conditions. However, a majority of previous research has focused on human developmental tasks or academic achievements. Evidence of resilience on health risk behaviors has not been comprehensively established yet. The purposes of this dissertation were to extend the existing literature about the stability of resilience through time, to examine how the resilience scale concurrently and prospectively predict resilience statuses, and to explore effects of Social support over a long period of lifetime.
