This study explores the self-esteem and life satisfaction of, selected institutionalized elderly persons. The research questions were: 1) What is the extent of self-esteem of selected institutionalized 'elderly persons as measured by the Tennessee Self Concept Scale? 2) What is the extent of life satisfaction of selected institutionalized elderly persons as measured by the Life Satisfaction Index of Adams? Symbolic interactionism and self-theory served as the theoretical framework for the study.

An Exploration Of The Relationship Between Adolescent Adjustment To Diabetes Mellitus And Parent-Child Relationship Problems, Ann M. Demos

The focus of this study is on adolescents who have diabetes mellitus and their adjustment to that disease. This study explores the relationship between adolescent adjustment to diabetes mellitus and the parent-child relationship. Erik Erikson's Theory of Cognitive Development served as the theoretical framework for the study. The study utilized descriptive methodology. Data was collected using Child's Attitude Toward Mother Scale and Child's Attitude Toward Father Scale, the Diabetic Adjustment Scale, and a researcher developed structured'interview. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of learning assistance on the success of provisionally admitted students in an associate degree nursing program as evaluated by nursing course grades and State Board Test Pool Examination results. Knowles'• Theory of Aridxagogy and a construct, of • Bloom's Mastery Learning served as the conceptual framework for the study.
The sample was 20 students provisionally admitted to an associate degree program in a state supported college in the Pacific Northwest. A quasi-experimental research design, using both non-equivalent control groups and a matched group, was utilized.

The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable tool to assess nursing students' values in the areas of 1) abortion and birth control; 2) care of the terminally ill; and 3) mental illness. Rokeach's Theory of Organization and Change Within Value- Attitude Systems served as the theoretical framework for the study.
The instrument was developed by the researcher through a review of the literature, review of other instruments, and the researcher's experiences. The method of scaling the questionnaire was a six point Likert-type scale.
