The purpose of this project was to increase sun protection discussion and education in patients with actinic keratosis at a dermatology clinic. Actinic keratosis is one of the most common dermatologic diagnoses in patients 45 and older. Fifty-eight million Americans have one or more actinic keratoses and they are caused by years of UV sun exposure without sun protection. They are often a precursor to squamous cell carcinoma and adequate sun protection can prevent future lesions from developing and slow or stop the progression of current lesions.
