Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a medical condition which many people may be affected by but may be unaware of the presence of the condition. The incidence of OSA has increased in direct correlation with the rising rate of obesity in the general population. While chronic conditions may arise if OSA goes untreated, patients with OSA also have an increased risk for acute complications following surgical procedures such as airway obstruction, hypoxia, brain damage, and death.
