Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective: To study the levels of serum adiponectin and chemerin in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) and their diagnostic role.

Background: NAFLD is the most common cause of chronic liver disease, which is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Liver biopsy remains the gold standard for its diagnosis, but it is an invasive procedure. chemerin and adiponectin can be possible noninvasive diagnostic markers.

Patients and methods: This prospective study was conducted from March 2020 to October 2021 on 90 subjects including 60 patients with NAFLD and 30 age and gender-matched healthy individuals as control group. All were subjected …

Evaluation Of Leptin And Adiponectin Levels In Obese Patients With Acne Vulgaris, Magda M. Haggag, Manal A. Safan, Nafisa Z. I Abd Algalil Mar 2023

Evaluation Of Leptin And Adiponectin Levels In Obese Patients With Acne Vulgaris, Magda M. Haggag, Manal A. Safan, Nafisa Z. I Abd Algalil

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective This study aimed to evaluate adipokines such as leptin and adiponectin in obese patients with acne vulgaris. Background Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit characterized by increased sebum production in response to androgens. The adipokines secreted from the sebaceous glands are considered novel factors affecting acne inflammation. Patients and methods This study was carried out at the Dermatology and Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Departments of Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University. Patients were grouped as follows: group I (patient group) included 60 obese patients with acne vulgaris, and group II (control group) included 30 …

Serum Adiponectin Level In Osteoporotic Postmenopausal Women With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Mohammed A. Shaaban, Mohammed G. Habsh, Rasha G. Mostafa, Shimaa K. Zewain Sep 2020

Serum Adiponectin Level In Osteoporotic Postmenopausal Women With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Mohammed A. Shaaban, Mohammed G. Habsh, Rasha G. Mostafa, Shimaa K. Zewain

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective The aim was to evaluate the relationships between serum adiponectin level and lumbar bone mineral density (BMD) in osteoporotic postmenopausal women with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus. Background Adiponectin is a novel adipocytokine that could influence bone metabolism. Patients and methods This case–control study was conducted on 55 postmenopausal women selected from diabetic endocrinology inpatient and outpatient clinics. Patients were divided into three groups: osteoporotic group (group A), which included 20 nondiabetic osteoporotic postmenopausal women; diabetic osteoporotic group (group B), which included 20 type 2 diabetic osteoporotic postmenopausal women; and control group (group C), which included 15 nonosteoporotic, …

Effect Of Adiponectin And Highly Sensitive C-Reactive Protein On The Severity Of Coronary Artery Disease, Ahmed A. Reda, Ahmed O. Elsisy, Waleed A. Ibrahim

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective The objective of our study was to estimate the effect of adiponectin (ADPN) and highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level on the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with chronic stable angina. Materials and methods MEDLINE databases (PubMed, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, British Medical Journal, Journal of American College of Cardiology, and European Heart Journal) and also materials available in the internet were searched. The search was performed in the electronic databases from 2000 to 2017. The initial search presented 122 articles of which 29 met the inclusion criteria. The articles …

The Correlation Between Serum Adiponectin Levels And Severity Of Coronary Artery Disease, Alshaimaa A. Ahmed, Rehab Ibraheem, Walaa Farid Mar 2019

The Correlation Between Serum Adiponectin Levels And Severity Of Coronary Artery Disease, Alshaimaa A. Ahmed, Rehab Ibraheem, Walaa Farid

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective To evaluate the correlation between serum adiponectin levels and the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) as assessed by coronary angiography. Background CAD is the leading cause of death worldwide. Adiponectin is a protein hormone that modulates a number of metabolic processes, including glucose regulation and acid oxidation. The severity of hypoadiponectinemia correlates with coronary lesions. Indeed, adiponectin levels are lower in patients having CAD. Patients and methods This cross-sectional study included 90 patients, comprising 36 patients with normal coronary arteries and 54 patients with CAD. Patients with CAD were subdivided into four groups according to the number of …
