Reasons Clinical Education Directors Intend To Leave Their Jobs, Alicia Klein, Katrina M. Schrode, Lucy W. Kibe, Gerald Kayingo

Objectives

The goals of this study were to characterize clinical coordinators compared to other Physician Assistant (PA) faculty, and investigate factors associated with intent to leave their position, institution, and academia in the U.S.

Methods

This was a secondary analysis of data obtained from the 2019 Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Faculty and Directors Survey. We examined bivariate associations with faculty role and conducted multiple logistic regression to identify predictors of intent to leave among clinical directors.

Results

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is globally recognized as the best possible source of nutrition for infants due to breastmilk’s extensive health benefits. Significant disparities in breastfeeding initiation and duration exist among demographic groups in the United States, with African American breastfeeding initiation rates being significantly lower than any other race. As the population in the United States ages, palliative care spending and needs have been increasing. Most quality outcome measures, however, have shown inadequate satisfaction among patients and caregivers. Problem: Throughout the United States, there has been an increasing trend in the number of parents refusing to vaccinate their children. Studies have shown that since the upward trend of refusal to vaccinate has started, there has been an increase in outbreaks of preventable diseases. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of education to women of lower socioeconomic status about the importance of folic acid use before and during pregnancy. Previous research has shown the significance of folic acid in preventing neural tube defects; however, research has shown that women of lower socioeconomic status are not equipped with proper education regarding folic acid usage periconceptionally. The purpose of this research study was to utilize educational tools on healthy lifestyles in order to promote Diabetes Mellitus Type II (DMII) prevention in the Hispanic population in Worthington, Minnesota. Hispanic adults are 1.7 times more likely to be diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) by a physician than non-Hispanics. Since DMII is a preventable disease, education focused on nutrition and activity will help prevent diabetes and its associated comorbidities. An educational seminar was conducted at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Worthington, Minnesota.
