There is a massive problem of tobacco-related cancer outcomes in patients that are affected by race and ethnicity. Although this is a known disparity, there continues to be a gap in care for asking patients if they use tobacco and in advising and assisting them in making a quit attempt. Health information technology requirements and meaningful use regulations require the utilization of systematic electronic documentation.
