The aim of this study was to examine the effects of barley-vetch hay and barley-vetch silage on liveweight change in pregnant sheep and birthweight in lambs and to determine the optimal form of barley-vetch roughage usage in sheep feeding. Forty-eight (Kıvırcık x Akkaraman (G1) sheep were blocked according to age and randomly distributed to three groups: barley-vetch hay (H, n = 16), barleyvetch silage (S, n = 16), and the control group (C, n = 16). The H group was fed barley-vetch hay ad libitum and limited concentrate, the S group was fed barley-vetch silage ad libitum and limited concentrate, …

This study was conducted to determine the silage quality, in vitro digestibility and energy content of forage turnip (Brassica rapa) ensiled with molasses or ground barley. Forage turnip was harvested at three different stages: the beginning, middle and end of the flowering period, and it was ensiled with no additive (control), 5% molasses or 4% ground barley. In the trial, pH, nutrient contents, ammonia nitrogen (NH$_{3}$-N) contents, volatile fatty acid (VFA) contents, Fleig scores, in vitro digestibility and energy content were determined. It was observed that the effect of the vegetative stage on the difference between the groups was significant …

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of microbial inoculants and molasses on the quality and in vitro digestibility of the silages ensiled from the cultivation of different proportions of ryegrass-Hungarian vetch mixtures grown in Central Anatolian conditions. For this purpose, 5% molasses and 10 g/ton (1.25 × 10$^{11}$ CFU/g) inoculant were added to silages of ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) containing 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% Hungarian vetch (Vicia pannonica L.), under laboratory conditions. The prepared silages were opened at the end of 60 days and their physical analysis, chemical contents, fermentation parameters, in vitro digestibilities using …
