A Comparison Of The Growth Differences Of Rainbow Trout(Oncorhynchus Mykissw., 1792) In Freshwater And Seawater (The Black Sea), Murat Yi̇ği̇t, Orhan Aral

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The research was carried out to determine the growth differences of rainbow trout in freshwater and seawater. Totally 480 individuals with initial mean weights of 88.08±0.91 g and 85.58±1.15 g were used in the experiment which was car-ried out in a freshwater facility of a commercial trout farm and the sea farm of Sinop Fisheries Faculty of the University of Ondokuz Mayis. The experiment was conducted for 90 days. At the end of the experiment, rainbow trouts grown in freshwater and seawater, reached final average weights of 295.56±5.65 g and 388.41±8.12 g and the daily growth rates were found as …

Some Haematological Parameters Of The Rainbow Trouts Experimentallyinfected With Yersinia Ruckeri, Soner Altun, Öznur Di̇ler

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

A haematological study was carried out with rainbow trouts experimentally infected with Yersinia ruckeri. One hundred rainbow trouts ( Oncorhynchus mykiss) at 192±0.24 g were examined. Yersinia ruckeriat a concentration of 3x10 6 cfu/0.1 ml was intraperitoneally (i.p.) injected to 50 animals. The blood samples of infected and control groups were collected from caudal vein in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 days after inoculation. Some haematological parameters: erythrocyte, leucocyte and thrombocyte counts; differential leucocyte types; haematocrit; mean cell volume (MCV), mean cell haemoglobin (MCH), mean cell haemoglobin concentrations (MCHC); haemoglobin, plasma total protein and …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Growth performances, daily food consumption and feed conversion ratios of rainbow (Onchorynchus mykiss) and brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) reared as single and mixed species were compared. During the experimental period, which lasted for about a growing season (December - June, 217 days), mean % weight increment of single species brook trout group were maximum (from 18.2 to 165.6 g), followed by mixed rainbow (26.8 to 241.6 g) and brook trout (17.0 to 151.8 g), and single species rainbow trout (27.5 to 207.6 g). Rates of increment in biomass were in similar order. Final mean weights of single species brook trout …
