The Antimicrobial Resistance Of Salmonellae Isolated From Animals, Indhira Kramomtong, Channarong Rodkhum, Waree Niyomthum

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A total of 39 salmonella isolates were obtained from organ samples taken from duck, chicken and pig carcasses on 34 farms. They were tested for resistance to 11 antimicrobial drugs. 69.2% of isolates were resistant to at least one drug. Most resistances was shown to tetracycline and sulfamethoxazole while most isolates were susceptible to norfloxacin, enrofloxacin, flumiquine and furazolidone. Ampicillin and cephapirin were effective on the salmonella isolates from ducks and chicken, whereas kanamycin was effective on the isolates from chicken and pigs.
