Assessment Of Trichostrongyles Resistance Against Anthelmintics Commonly Used In Sheep Reared In Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, Mahmoud R. Saleh, Ibrahim Abbas, Moustafa Al-Araby, Salah Abu-Elwafa

Mansoura Veterinary Medical Journal

Objective: To investigate, for the first time, the anthelmintic resistance of different trichostrongle-infecting sheep in the Dakahlia governorate, Egypt.

Design: Randomized controlled study.

Animals: 820 sheep were reared within 10 free-grazing herds with infrequent deworming practices.

Procedures: Fresh fecal samples were collected, and their floats were examined for trichostrongyle eggs, which were then identified using fecal cultures and/or ITS2-PCR amplification. Sheep (n=500) whose samples had egg counts ≥ 150 eggs per gram (EPG) of feces were selected and divided in each herd into five equal groups; each group received one of the tested anthelmintics, including albendazole (5 mg/kg BW), levamisole …

Investigation Of Nile Tilapia Mortalities During Summer 2019 In El-Manzala Fish Farms In Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, Amira M. M. El- Sherbiny, Moustafa M. S. Fouda, Medhat S. Shakweer, Viola H. Zaki

Mansoura Veterinary Medical Journal

Objective: To identify suspected causes of mass mortality in Oreochromis niloticus at El-Manzala fish farms in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, during disease outbreaks in the summer of 2019.

Design: Observational study.

Animals: Two hundred diseased and freshly dead Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) weighting 100-150 g.

Procedures: Collected fish samples were subjected to clinical, postmortem and bacteriological investigations regarding histopathological alterations, pathogenicity tests, and antibiogram susceptibility of the main isolated bacterial species.

Results: A total of 286 bacterial isolates were detected from all examined fish samples. Bacteriological examination revealed that all bacteria were gram-negative rods, which were identified as A. hydrophila (43.36%), …

Pathological, Ultrastructural And Haematological Studies On The Simultaneous Effect Of Dietary Supplementation With Lauric And Benzoic Acids On Nile Tilapia, Abdelaziz M. Rabea, Iman Ibrahim, Hebatallah A. Mahgoub, Ahmed El- Shaieb Jan 2023

Pathological, Ultrastructural And Haematological Studies On The Simultaneous Effect Of Dietary Supplementation With Lauric And Benzoic Acids On Nile Tilapia, Abdelaziz M. Rabea, Iman Ibrahim, Hebatallah A. Mahgoub, Ahmed El- Shaieb

Mansoura Veterinary Medical Journal

Objective: To evaluate the simultaneous effect of dietary acidifier lauric and benzoic acids on immunohematological parameters and histopathological changes in O. niloticus.

Design: Randomized controlled study.

Animal Models: The experiment was performed on 120 juvenile Nile tilapia weighing (50 ± 6.14 g).

Procedures: Fish were divided into four experimental groups (30 fish/group): Control group received normal diet; Benzoic Acid group was supplemented with benzoic acid 1 g/kg diet); Lauric Acid group was supplemented with lauric acid (1 g/kg diet); combination group was supplemented with benzoic acid (1 g/kg diet) and lauric acid (1 g/kg diet). Supplements were applied for 30 …
