Comparative Imaging Of The Vesicular Glands In New Zealand White Rabbits (Oryctolagus Cuniculus), Rosen Dimitrov, Kamelia Stamatova, Dimitar Kostov

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study investigated the morphological topographic features of the vesicular glands (gll. vesiculosae) in 10 sexually mature and clinically healthy male New Zealand White rabbits, aged 12 months, with body weights from 2.8 kg to 3.2 kg. The glands were observed by ultrasonography in 2 planes, transversal and sagittal. The approach was percutaneous transabdominal prepubic. The rabbit vesicular glands were visualized as a solid heterogeneous echoic finding. Using computed tomography, we scanned the pelvis in the transversal plane through the first sacral vertebra, at a cut thickness of 3 mm. The vesicular glands were visualized as transversally ovoid, homogeneous, and …

Biocompatibility Of High-Density Porous Polyethylene Covered With Fascia Lata In Dorsal Nasal Augmentation-An Experimental Study In Rabbits, Güven Yildirim, Hasan Alpak, İbrahi̇m Sayin, Vedat Onar Jan 2013

Biocompatibility Of High-Density Porous Polyethylene Covered With Fascia Lata In Dorsal Nasal Augmentation-An Experimental Study In Rabbits, Güven Yildirim, Hasan Alpak, İbrahi̇m Sayin, Vedat Onar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Ten New Zealand Albino rabbits were used in this study. A lateral incision was made on the nasal dorsum and a pocket formed in the subperiosteal plane to replace the implant. A fascia lata graft was obtained from the regio femoralis. High-density porous polyethylene (HDPP) was cut and covered with fascia lata. The material was positioned in the pocket formed on the nasal dorsum. Four months post-procedure, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed to evaluate the resorption of the material. Animals were then sacrificed and the nasal dorsum, including the graft material, was removed and subjected to macroscopic and histopathological …

The Effect Of Flashed Light On The Ultrastructure Of The Retinal Photoreceptor Cells In Rabbit: A Transmission Electron Microscope Study, Arash Esfandiari, Iraj Posti, Asghar Dehghan, Nasser Hadjipour Jan 2013

The Effect Of Flashed Light On The Ultrastructure Of The Retinal Photoreceptor Cells In Rabbit: A Transmission Electron Microscope Study, Arash Esfandiari, Iraj Posti, Asghar Dehghan, Nasser Hadjipour

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effects of light exposure on the retina have been carefully considered in recent years. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of flashed light with low and high intensity on the photoreceptor layer of rabbit. Fifteen adult male New Zealand White rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups: a control group, experimental group I (exposed to 60 W of flashed light 5 times), and experimental group II (exposed to 1000 W of flashed light 5 times). The retinas of the eyes were removed and studied by transmission electron microscope. The photoreceptor layer damage in experimental …

Helical Computed Tomography Application In Rabbit Liver Anatomy: Comparison With Frozen Cross-Sectional Cuts, Kamelia Stamatova Yovcheva, Rosen Dimitrov, Yuliana Toneva, Penka Yonkova, Dimitar Kostov, Anton Rusenov, Krassimira Uzunova, Violeta Yordanova Jan 2013

Helical Computed Tomography Application In Rabbit Liver Anatomy: Comparison With Frozen Cross-Sectional Cuts, Kamelia Stamatova Yovcheva, Rosen Dimitrov, Yuliana Toneva, Penka Yonkova, Dimitar Kostov, Anton Rusenov, Krassimira Uzunova, Violeta Yordanova

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Our focus has been to study and compare the anatomical helical computed tomography (CT) features of the normal rabbit liver with its native cross-sectional anatomy. Helical CT was used for scanning the cranial part of the abdominal cavity. The slice thickness was 5 mm. Frozen transversal anatomic cross-sections with a thickness of 10 mm were obtained from the cranial abdominal part of 4 animals following euthanasia. They were compared with the corresponding helical CT scans. At Th9 (thoracic vertebra), the helical CT images showed in the whole aspect a normal liver. It was a massive, heterogeneous, soft tissue, with normal …

H-Reflex And M-Wave Studies In The Fore-And Hindlimbs Of Rabbit, Erkut Turan, Cengi̇z Ünsal, Aykut Göktürk Üner

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to investigate the H-reflex in the forelimb and to compare the forelimb and hindlimb H-reflex results and Hmax/Mmax ratios in rabbit. For this purpose, we used 15 healthy adult female New Zealand albino rabbits. Left limbs of rabbits were used for stimulation and recording procedures using general anesthesia. Electrophysiological tests were performed using Nikolet Viking Quest (USA) 2-channel EMG equipment. The median and the tibial nerves were used to evaluate H-reflex and M-waves. Latencies of the H-reflex were almost the same in both limbs. However, M-wave latencies and amplitudes were significantly different, P-values being …

Three-Dimensional Reconstruction Of Multidetector Computed Tomography Images Of Paranasal Sinuses Of New Zealand Rabbits, Sema Özkadi̇f, Emrullah Eken Jan 2013

Three-Dimensional Reconstruction Of Multidetector Computed Tomography Images Of Paranasal Sinuses Of New Zealand Rabbits, Sema Özkadi̇f, Emrullah Eken

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted to produce a 3-dimensional reconstruction using multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images of the anatomic structures forming the paranasal sinuses of New Zealand rabbits and to present biometric properties of the sinuses and conchae. A total of 16 adult New Zealand rabbits, comprising 8 males and 8 females, were included in the study. After high-resolution MDCT images of the paranasal sinuses were obtained, they were reconstructed using a 3-dimensional modeling program (Mimics) by overlapping the images and the biometric measurements of the structures forming the paranasal sinuses. The maxillary sinuses of New Zealand rabbits were made up …
