Finding The Resilient Teacher Within: A Workshop To Address K-12 Teacher Well-Being, Laura Jones
Educational Specialist, 2009-2019
Teacher stress comes from a variety of sources: accountability pressures, lack of time to relax, students who are not motivated, excessive duties and responsibilities that go beyond the classroom, testing pressure, large class size, lack of administrative support, and general concern for the safety and well being of their students (Richards, 2012). As a result of the constant high stress, more teachers are reporting mental/physical health issues and leaving the profession (Richards, 2012). One way to help deal with the stress teachers are feeling is to strengthen the teacher from within by using the resources they have already. This paper …

Perspective From Two Professions: Two Professionals Making Meaning Of The Clinical Educator Role, Tara Payor
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe how professional educators make sense of their role in helping novice practitioners make meaning from authentic clinical practice. Simultaneously studying a clinical educator from teacher and graduate medical education, and subsequently setting their stories side by side, speaks to the interest both professions have in learning from the other. Both clinical educators were Board certified in their respective area of practice. In-depth phenomenological interviewing was used as the study’s methodology, and the professional formation construct served as the study’s conceptual framework. Data corroborate findings in the literature that there is a …

Implementation Of Educational Program For Nurses To Improve Knowledge And Use Of Discharge Planning Best Practices, Eric C. Snyder
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Abstract
Problem Statement: The frequency and severity of hospital post-discharge events has become a national problem. The increase in readmission rates post-discharge has a negative impact on the patients overall morbidity and increases healthcare costs (Jack, 2012). Non-comprehensive discharge planning contributes to post-discharge events such as less than 30-day readmissions (Jack, 2012). Best practices for discharge planning should be utilized.
Purpose: The purpose of this project was to evaluate the impact of Project Re-engineering Discharge (RED) education to increase nurses' knowledge and use of best practices on discharge planning. An adapted Project RED educational intervention, using Knowles' adult learning …

Assessing Vocabulary Of Children: Investigating The Evaluation And Instruction Of Basic Concepts, Rebecca Elizabeth Smith
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Vocabulary knowledge of preschool children is a key factor in predicting literacy success in elementary school (Hammer, Farkas, & Maczuga, 2010). However, few deliberate attempts to teach basic concept vocabulary have been studied (Bowers & Schwarz, 2013; Wilson, 2004). The purpose of this research is to determine if large group explicit instruction with interactive activities of specific basic concept vocabulary will increase preschool children's understanding of basic concept terms when measured by a standardized basic concept assessment. This research will also assess the validity of a basic concept-curriculum based measure (BC-CBM) as an efficient tool to monitor a child's understanding …
