Background: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a well-known cause of hip pain and dysfunction in young adults. Surgical treatment has been widely popularized during the past decade. However, most reported results have been limited to short-term and intermediate-term follow-up. The long-term success rate and risk factors for failure are largely unknown. This study aimed to report the long-term (minimum, 10 years) clinical outcomes of surgical treatment of FAI and to describe the clinical and radiographic parameters associated with the failure of treatment involving femoroacetabular osteoplasty (FAO) and labral repair.

There is limited data regarding antibiotic prophylaxis in pediatrics, and there are no standardized guidelines in neonates. Background: While there has been significant focus on individual and programmatic factors impacting general surgical residents wellbeing and burnout, the effect of the greater institutional macrocosm has not been well studied. Our work seeks to identify organizational factors that may be implicated in resident wellness. Summary of Work: Using a modified Delphi technique, a survey structured around six domains of the Maslach Burnout Theory (workload, control, reward, community, fairness, values) was distributed to wellness stakeholders at two institutions. Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms are rare and represent approximately 4% of all cystic pancreatic tumours, and predominately affect females. They have an excellent prognosis, however 10-15% of the patients show metastasis at the time of surgery or recurrence of tumour during follow-up after pancreatectomy. Surgical resection is the recommended treatment. We present a rare case of a 15-year-old female, with a pseudopapillary tumour of the pancreas which was diagnosed pre-operatively.

Introduction: Within facial plastic and reconstructive surgery (FPRS), prescription practices have trended toward prescribing larger amounts of perioperative opioids. However, there is limited literature regarding the postoperative pain experience and opioid consumption for FPRS. The purpose of our study was to investigate opioid prescription and consumption following procedures of the nose, with the aim of developing evidence-based guidelines for postoperative pain management.

We present a systematic, sustainable, student-led model for a Surgery Interest Group in a low and middle-income country setting to encourage other medical students to establish similar groups in their institutions. Our model was developed at the Aga Khan University Medical College, Karachi, and is comprised of medical students, teaching associates, residents, faculty and alumni. The group focuses on connecting medical students with an interest in surgery with opportunities to help them match in surgery training programs.
