The volatile geo-political situation of the country after the events of September 11, compelled the department of Surgery at Aga Khan University (AKU) to initiate the formation of a comprehensive disaster plan and trauma team. Since its inception the trauma team has stood the test of time during multiple disaster situations in Karachi. This includes the bus bombing of the French engineers, Hyderi mosque bomb blast and various other bomb blasts inside the city of Karachi.
