With an aging demographic, and the abundance of physical inactivity in Canada, sport professionals need to understand how best to recruit and retain adults in sport and recreational activities, namely, golf leagues. Canadian golf league participants (N = 419; Mage = 62 years old) completed an online survey detailing their propensity to utilize a variety of information sources prior to making the decision to join a golf league. Results from a principal component analysis of a revised Information Sources Inventory, suggested that golfers in this sample were most likely to utilize Personal and Social sources of information associated with their …

This paper is dedicated to the Super Bowl that will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota in February of 2018. It introduces the organization responsible for the planning of the event, the event itself; as well as describes the venue in which the game will be played. The paper also includes marketing strategies for the event, suggestions to minimize risks, methods to manage employees, and discusses an ethical issue dealing with the event, as well as a personal reflection on the project and program.

A 2001 report by the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) indicated there is likely to be a shortage of sport officials in the near future. This report also indicated that soccer and field hockey were already struggling to find officials as early as 2001. The purpose of this article is to identify researched recruitment and retention issues of sports officials; ways to retain current officials; and strategies to help recruit new officials.

In 2011, the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium averaged 36,236 fans per game, dropping from 43,979 in 2010 and 46,440 in 2009, an overall loss of about 10,000 fans per game in just two years. In 2011, The Dodgers' attendance ranking fell from first to eleventh in Major League Baseball (MLB), which amounted to a loss of over 800,000 tickets sold per year, as well as the resulting revenue from concessions and parking. The following work examines the different aspects of opening an exercise-based business and identifies factors of the competitive environment that are conducive to opening a recreational and athletic strength training facility. Questions were answered regarding what type of exercise-based business could feasibly compete against the other exercise-based businesses and related non-profit organizations and what the existing exercise-based businesses and related non-profit organizations located within a 30-mile radius of southwest Dearborn, Michigan, were doing to survive in the current competitive economy.
