Terapi Latihan Pada Fase Satu Pasca Operasi Rekonstruksi Ruptur Anterior Cruciate Ligamentum Sinistra, Aunike Arum Meta Wurgani, Irawan Wibisono Jun 2024

Terapi Latihan Pada Fase Satu Pasca Operasi Rekonstruksi Ruptur Anterior Cruciate Ligamentum Sinistra, Aunike Arum Meta Wurgani, Irawan Wibisono

Jurnal Fisioterapi Terapan Indonesia or Indonesian Journal of Applied Physiotherapy

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a surgical procedure involving the grafting of the ACL using tendon tissue. This procedure aims to restore knee stability and joint fixation following an ACL injury. Post-ACL reconstruction often leads to complications such as pain, edema, reduced range of motion, and muscle weakness. The physiotherapy program in this case aims to evaluate the effects of physiotherapy interventions, including quadriceps setting, hamstring setting, straight leg raise (SLR), heel slide, ankle pumping, bridging, and prone hang exercises, in reducing edema and pain, as well as improving the range of motion and muscle strength in the knee …

Exercise Is A Vital Sign, Megan Dannemiller, Anthony Shadiack, Marvin Sineath Jr, Andrew Baird, Marc Poirier, Kevin Thomas, Michael G. Flynn Jun 2024

Exercise Is A Vital Sign, Megan Dannemiller, Anthony Shadiack, Marvin Sineath Jr, Andrew Baird, Marc Poirier, Kevin Thomas, Michael G. Flynn

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

In this review, we argue that exercise (physical activity) be monitored as a vital sign since no other basic sign or symptom provides as much information about a patient's health status. The influence of regular exercise on patient health is indisputable, with strong evidence to show the power of exercise to mitigate chronic disease and improve overall health. Several simple tools, such as Physical Activity as a Vital Sign and Exercise as a Vital Sign are available to assess patient physical activity. When properly applied, there is evidence to support the efficacy of these tools, but there are barriers that …

Just Pin It: Understanding The Dynamics Of Pinterest Use, Motivation, Self-Efficacy, And Health Behaviors, Kathryn E. Dolphin, Rachel Char, Summer Rogers Mar 2024

Just Pin It: Understanding The Dynamics Of Pinterest Use, Motivation, Self-Efficacy, And Health Behaviors, Kathryn E. Dolphin, Rachel Char, Summer Rogers

Health Behavior Research

Image-based social media platforms, such as Pinterest, have revolutionized how individuals seek, share, and interpret health information. Previous research suggests a link between consuming social media content and intentions to engage in health behaviors; however, it is unclear if individuals who actively seek health-related information on social media engage in healthier behaviors. This mixed-methods study explored the relationships among Pinterest use, motivations, self-efficacy, and health behaviors. Women participants (n = 227) completed surveys that included sociodemographic characteristics, motivation, self-efficacy, Pinterest use, and diet and exercise behaviors. Independent samples t-tests assessed differences in exercise behaviors, and multivariate analyses of variance …

Effects Of Core Stabilization Exercises In Patients With Non-Specific Low Back Pain: Huber Motion Lab Versus Conventional, Ebru Koyuncu, Nur Tunali, Seda Saka, Ertuğrul Ural, Melek Güneş Yavuzer Mar 2024

Effects Of Core Stabilization Exercises In Patients With Non-Specific Low Back Pain: Huber Motion Lab Versus Conventional, Ebru Koyuncu, Nur Tunali, Seda Saka, Ertuğrul Ural, Melek Güneş Yavuzer

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Introduction: This study aimed to determine the effects of core stabilization exercises with Huber® Motion Lab on pain, depression, and activity levels in patients with non-specific low back pain (LBP).

Materials and methods: In this study, 30 patients with non-specific LBP were allocated either to an experimental or to a control group. Both groups received a conventional physiotherapy program for 15 sessions. In addition, the control group performed 30 minutes of core stabilization exercises on the floor, whereas the experimental group used the Huber® Motion Lab device. The main outcome measures were pain severity (Visual Analogue Scale VAS), depression (Beck …

Effect Of Unweighting Using The Lightspeed Lift On Energy Expenditure During Treadmill Walking And Jogging, Faith R. Ramirez, Danyel Valdez, Araceli Martinez, John D. Smith Feb 2024

Effect Of Unweighting Using The Lightspeed Lift On Energy Expenditure During Treadmill Walking And Jogging, Faith R. Ramirez, Danyel Valdez, Araceli Martinez, John D. Smith

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

Support and unweighting systems, such as AlterG, are often used in rehabilitation and alternative training, which provide an exercise effect that can minimize fitness- or performance-related loss. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of using a treadmill bungee support system (Lightspeed lift) on oxygen consumption (energy expenditure), heart rate, and rating of perceived exertion. METHODS: Twenty-four participants (age (yrs)=22.1±2.9, ht (cm)=169.8±10.1, wt (kg)=76.6±13) completed two trials of walking (3mph) and two trials of jogging (5 mph) with and without support. Data was analyzed with IBM SPSS v27 (Chicago IL). Repeated Measures ANOVA were …

Healthy School Recognized Campus’ Impact On Middle School Children’S Physical Activity Levels And Cardiovascular Fitness, Hoang Dao, Minh Le, Paula Butler, Mia Putnam, Allyson Schaefers, Jacob Szeszulski Feb 2024

Healthy School Recognized Campus’ Impact On Middle School Children’S Physical Activity Levels And Cardiovascular Fitness, Hoang Dao, Minh Le, Paula Butler, Mia Putnam, Allyson Schaefers, Jacob Szeszulski

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

Most current research is focused on the effectiveness of a single physical activity intervention. Healthy School Recognized Campus (HSRC) is a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension initiative that promotes the delivery of multiple physical activity and nutrition programs on a school campus, such as Walk Across Texas. PURPOSE: This study aims to determine whether HSRC will improve cardiovascular fitness and increase physical activity among middle school students. METHODS: Students completed the Youth Activity Profile (YAP) survey to assess the amount of time that students spent engaging in physical activity (during school, outside of school, on weekends) and sedentary behaviors, the …
